00:01Thomas the Quarry Engine
00:05At the very end of Thomas' branch line lies the Farqua Quarry,
00:10one of the oldest quarries on the island of Sodor.
00:14Mavis is the diesel engine who works there,
00:18shunting troublesome trucks of heavy snow.
00:21Get in line and get ready.
00:24We're all heading off to the docks this afternoon.
00:27It's not an easy job,
00:31but Mavis knows how to keep the troublesome trucks in line.
00:36One day, there was a big order of stone to be taken from the quarry to Brendam Docks.
00:42Thomas and Diesel had been sent to collect it,
00:46but they couldn't agree which of them would be the back engine.
00:50It would be better for you to be my back engine, Diesel.
00:54After all, it is my branch line.
00:57Nonsense, Thomas.
00:59You should be my back engine.
01:01Having a diesel on your branch line is bound to improve it.
01:11I could pull the cars by myself.
01:13Don't make me laugh.
01:15Those troublesome trucks are much too heavy for one engine.
01:19Especially a steamy like you.
01:22You two should stop arguing.
01:25You don't know how lucky you are.
01:28I work here in the quarry all the time.
01:31At least you get to see the rest of Sodor and the seaside.
01:36Would you like to be my back engine, Mavis?
01:40Oh no, Thomas.
01:42I have too much work to do here.
01:44There are more cars to get ready and...
01:46I'm sure Diesel can look after things here until you get back.
01:51That does sound nice.
01:53If Diesel agrees.
01:55In fact, it's a lovely idea.
01:58Well, I've got a better one.
02:01You can be my front engine, Mavis.
02:04Diesels are new and revolutionary.
02:07We'd be two diesels working together.
02:10Well, I suppose...
02:12Please, Thomas.
02:14Can you look after things here until I get back?
02:20Ta-ta, Thomas.
02:22See you later.
02:24There are more cars to get ready.
02:27They need to go to the docks by four.
02:29But you'll have to mind them.
02:31They can be very troublesome.
02:33I do know how to look after troublesome trucks, Mavis.
02:37Thomas set to work taking empty cars to be filled with stone
02:42and shunting full cars into line.
02:46But the trucks were very troublesome.
02:49They didn't like to be pushed.
02:51And they didn't like to be fooled.
02:55Thomas began to get a little impatient.
03:01He was ready for Mavis and Diesel to come back.
03:04Oh, I do love to be beside the seaside.
03:12Arr!
03:13You're an engine after me own heart, ladies.
03:16Thanks for letting me work with you, Diesel.
03:21But we really do have to get back.
03:24What's the rush?
03:25We could do another job together.
03:28These freight cars need to go to the shunting yard.
03:31Come on!
03:37Aha!
03:38Here they are!
03:39At last!
03:40You're not Mavis and Diesel.
03:46I never said we were, did I?
03:49I would have noticed if you had.
03:51But these troublesome trucks need to get to the docks.
03:54And I need a back engine to take them.
03:57Would you like to work with me, Toby?
04:00You could be my back engine.
04:02That's too many troublesome trucks for me, Thomas.
04:06And besides, I have to take the quarry workers home for their supper.
04:12Just be patient, Thomas.
04:14I'm sure Mavis and Diesel will be back very soon.
04:22Mavis and Diesel had delivered the freight cars to the shunting yard.
04:26Now Mavis was ready to get back to the quarry.
04:30I've had a great time, Diesel.
04:32But I really do need to get back now.
04:36But there are more cars here that need to be taken to Vicarstown, Mavis.
04:41We make a good team, you and me.
04:44You get to see the Vicarstown Bridge.
04:51Thomas was still waiting and was getting very impatient.
04:55Sir Topham Hatt will be very cross if these troublesome trucks don't get to the docks on time.
05:01But he would be very happy if I took them myself.
05:06That's it.
05:07I'll show that revolutionary Diesel.
05:10I don't need a back engine after all.
05:13The troublesome trucks thought that was a great idea.
05:17Can't stop us!
05:19Do it!
05:20We won't push and we won't go back!
05:22We'll be on our very best anchor!
05:24The trucks were heavy and hard to pull without a back engine.
05:30But once they were rolling, they went very well.
05:35Until they reached the first hill.
05:38Pull back! Pull back!
05:41Without a back engine to push from behind, it was very hard to pull the heavy cars up the hill.
05:48The hill!
05:49Oh!
05:50You said you were going to be good!
05:53Sorry, Thomas!
05:54Leave a laugh!
05:55We won't hold you back anymore!
05:57What?
05:58No!
05:59Hey!
06:01god!
06:02Garry!
06:03God help me!
06:04Matt, have a job that sport helped him!
06:07Without a back engine to hold back from behind, it was very hard to slow down!
06:12And Thomas's brake man wasn't strong enough to stop the heavy cars.
06:18pozy!!
06:19Oh, no! Toby, look out!
06:27Luckily, a signalman switched him onto a siding.
06:46Thomas! What?
06:49What happened?
06:50You two were taking so long, I decided not to wait and take the troublesome trucks by myself.
06:57Without a back engine?
06:59Not a good idea, I know.
07:02Sorry, Thomas. I did tell Mavis a number of times that we should get back to the quarry.
07:09What? You never said...
07:12Oh!
07:13Ahem!
07:14Mavis and Diesel helped to get Thomas and the troublesome trucks back on the line.
07:27I know, naughty Diesel and Mavis left you all on your own, Thomas, but you should never have taken those cars without a back engine.
07:37I'm sorry, sir. I was trying to be useful.
07:43Sir Topham Hatt sent Mavis back to the quarry.
07:46To do what she does best.
07:52But he also realised that now and then it was nice for her to take cars down to the docks.
08:01And that makes Mavis a very happy engine indeed.
08:07Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside.
08:11Oh, I do like to be beside the sea.
08:15Oh, I do like to stroll along the prom prom prom
08:19Where the brass bands play
08:21Tiddly-um-pum-pum
08:23Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside.
08:27Oh, I do like to be beside the sea.
08:31When I'm down beside the sea
08:33I'm beside myself with me beside the seaside.
08:37Beside the sea!
08:39Ha ha!
