Rebecca McBride quit her full time job to pursue a career where she gets to be her own boss and do something she loves — being a professional dog wedding chaperone and pet sitter.

00:00It's kind of niche, you know, like when people ask me what I do, they're like, what?

00:14I was waitressing at a wedding venue and they brought their dog along and I was like,

00:20like, I'd never seen this before, like, didn't really, like, it didn't even pop into my mind

00:24that someone, like, could bring the dog along and I was just like, oh my god, this is the best thing

00:29ever, like, love this and me being, like, a massive dog lover, I was meant to be, like,

00:35serving drinks and stuff but I was, like, gravitating towards the dog so I was like,

00:42oh, do you need a wee hand, like, I'll take the dog out and stuff like that because the

00:47whole family were passing the dog between them and, like, trying to balance, like, drinks

00:52and take photos and the dog was, like, pulling them all directions, like, they couldn't really

00:57enjoy their day at their family's wedding because, like, they were having to look after

01:02the dog.

01:03I knew I wanted to work for myself, I wanted to work with dogs and the wedding idea was

01:10always in the back of my mind.

01:11My name is Rebecca McBride so that's where McBride and Groom came from and then once that

01:17kind of came to me, like, I was like, right, okay, like, I'm doing it.

01:21Nowadays with social media, like, it is really important to have that side of it to advertise

01:27so that's been really crucial, I think, doing my little videos to get my name out there.

01:33I love when it's a surprise.

01:36I would say, like, I have brides and grooms reach out to me and say I would love my dog

01:44to be standing there, like, for my other half on the wedding day and, like, them not know

01:48about it and I think that's really, really sweet.

01:51Most people do want an overnight stay for their dog so while they're having a little

01:57drink and a party at the wedding, I take the dog back and look after it and have a little

02:01sleepover with me.

02:03Be brave and kind of go with your gut and there is no point, like, staying in something that's

02:09making you unhappy.

02:11You only have one life is what I kept telling myself and you don't want to be doing something

02:16that you don't love.
