00:00And how being in Paris has influenced that too, so...
00:02That was an earthquake.
00:03That was an earthquake.
00:04Yeah, there is an earthquake.
00:05That was an earthquake, right?
00:06I thought you were kicking my chair this whole time.
00:08No, there is an earthquake.
00:09Yeah, there's an earthquake.
00:11Welcome to InStyle Love, and we're having an earthquake.
00:14We are the cast of Emily in Paris.
00:16And we're going to be opening some fan mail with InStyle.
00:21I will open this first one.
00:24Wait, but what if Emily chooses Emily?
00:28Oh.
00:29Aww.
00:31I think that every season Emily is forced to make decisions,
00:38whether it be romantic decisions or work decisions.
00:40But every time she makes one, she has to look within herself
00:43to figure out if it's something that she's thinking with her brain or her heart.
00:47And I think this season, more than ever, there's a vulnerable side of Emily
00:51where I think she does end up choosing herself within each decision.
00:55So I think there's always a choice of Emily within each decision she makes.
00:59I sometimes forget how much I love Emily and Gabrielle from Emily in Paris.
01:04Are there others?
01:05Chemistry is always on 10.
01:07You know, it's actually funny because we don't have chemistry in real life.
01:13We never interact.
01:14And somehow it's such a professional that when, you know, the cameras are on, we just like…
01:19Make the magic happen.
01:21Thank you for this because we are speaking for Earth Post, but we love what we created,
01:30the little bubble, the Emily and Gabrielle bubble we created.
01:33And especially this season, I feel like it's been a pleasure to burst abscesses and fight a bit more and get real.
01:42And so I'm glad it is seen.
01:45It is appreciated.
01:47Gabriel's situation is giving Ross from season one of Friends with Carol and Susan.
01:54Oh my God, that's really funny.
01:58No, you shouldn't have said that.
02:00I'm not going to be able to unsee it when I'm…
02:03Yeah, it is true actually.
02:05Oh my God.
02:06I'm actually re-watching the show at the moment.
02:08I'm season seven and yeah, thank you.
02:12Now there's going to be a lot of Ross-infused interpretations.
02:15Pivot!
02:16Pivot!
02:17Pivot!
02:18Pivot!
02:19I know Karate.
02:20You know Karate?
02:21I'm Nagi.
02:22Okay.
02:23I love the fact that Sylvie is not one-dimensional.
02:28Sylvie changes and grows throughout the series.
02:30Yeah, I love that too.
02:32I love layers.
02:34And I love…
02:36I love to see all vulnerability more and more.
02:40It's funny because it's about Emily not being able to choose,
02:43but it's also about Sylvie not being able to choose.
02:46It seems like these women can't find the right companion
02:50to walk through life with, right?
02:52They're like, they kind of hesitate all the time
02:54because it looked like Sylvie, you know,
02:56knew what she was doing because she's older and everything,
02:58but she doesn't know what she's doing.
03:01She's just as lost as everyone.
03:03I think it's cool though because it's multi-generational.
03:06So it doesn't mean you have to have all your stuff together at a certain age.
03:10It's like you're always finding your voice in different ways
03:13and things from your past will come up
03:15that impact the future trajectory of your life.
03:18And then wherever you're at,
03:20you have to kind of reevaluate
03:21and that can happen in your teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s.
03:25Like it just, I think it proves that point,
03:27which I think is important.
03:28Yeah, it's something about the solitude of human condition.
03:31I'm getting really deep now.
03:32No, we love it.
03:34It's good.
03:35It's good.
03:36Watching your scenes too, especially this season,
03:38but it's so fun to watch the scenes
03:40as like characters coming from your past
03:42and different interactions.
03:43Yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:44You have different people in your life.
03:45What you were saying, the layers,
03:46the different parts of Sylvie that we didn't see at first.
03:48Of course.
03:49Of course.
03:49Right.
03:50Yeah.
03:50I got mail.
03:51Ooh.
03:52Ooh.
03:53Dun, dun, dun.
03:54You're fired.
03:56I love the letter.
03:58Luke, I love you.
04:00Wow.
04:01No, I love him.
04:02He's so quirky, fun, and unapologetically.
04:07Unapologetically.
04:08Unapologetically.
04:10Unapologetically.
04:12It's very hard.
04:14Himself.
04:15He probably gives me the greatest love on Emily in Paris.
04:18I didn't agree with him on one point.
04:20So, I love happy endings.
04:24But that's maybe just because I'm not French.
04:27Lol.
04:28From Reddit.
04:29Yeah, yeah.
04:30I'm enjoying that.
04:32I'm so happy.
04:33Yesterday, I was on the airport
04:35and so many people come to me from Japan,
04:38from Australia, from Argentina.
04:40And for me, there is one thing.
04:42I appreciate and I love that I discovered,
04:46thanks to the show, that humorism is international.
04:49I can make love every culture.
04:52And to me, it's very joyful.
04:55I'm so happy with that.
04:57Oopsie.
04:58All right.
04:59All right.
04:59Okay.
05:00I am with Julien and all his frustrations
05:03in the last few episodes of season three with Emily.
05:06His comment of, Emily, do you have an off switch?
05:10Which was ralented and I hope that he gets his time to shine in season four.
05:19And it was from SavingCheesecake95 on Reddit.
05:23Well, I think this season, Julien is going to, you know, keep fighting for himself,
05:32putting himself first.
05:34And I would never say it enough.
05:37If you guys are there, if you don't feel comfortable at work, if you don't feel comfortable in a relationship,
05:44if you don't feel respected, you got to put yourself first and do what works for you.
05:48And don't let anyone take your light away.
05:52And Julien, for sure, will never let anyone take his light away.
05:56Is this me?
05:58Yeah.
05:59Cool.
06:00I spelled my name right.
06:01I love that.
06:02All right, then.
06:03Honestly, Alfie deserved much better.
06:05And him getting to know how Emily was still in love with Gabriel at the end of season three
06:09was sad.
06:10An emoji face with, like, that emoji face.
06:14Can you see that emoji face?
06:16Yeah.
06:17Let's do it.
06:18You know the one that we're talking about?
06:21Gosh, I feel like Alfie's world just kind of crumbled around him a little bit from season three.
06:26He's definitely found a more vulnerable phase in his life, I think.
06:33From his friendships to, obviously, the girl that he loved, it's all just come crashing down.
06:40And I think he's just figuring out where it fits in this new world.
06:43My gym played one of the Mindy songs from Emily in Paris, Slay.
06:51Hope the gym bros could appreciate the nuance, the complex emotion, the musical genius, and
06:56vocal prowess on display.
06:58Woo woo!
06:59What gym was that?
07:01If it's in the lobby of the gym, then it's like kind of, like, Mon Slay is kind of the
07:05bop that, like, gets your rhythm going, but it's not like, Terminator!
07:09You know?
07:10Maybe she loves a good bop to, like, walk on the treadmill to, though.
07:12Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
07:13You know, coming from singing and dancing live and figuring out the technicalities of how
07:17you make it work for on-screen work has been, like, super challenging and super, like, a
07:23big adventure every time.
07:25I don't know what it is about opening letters, but it gets me really excited.
07:30I'm like, if you don't start shaking it, it's so funny.
07:33What's going on?
07:34Just started Emily in Paris.
07:36Loving it so far.
07:38Sylvie is my spirit animal.
07:41Antoine, for God's sake, work on your marriage.
07:47And that's from user...
07:48Peggy!
07:49Peggy!
07:50Peggy!
07:51Look on your marriage!
07:53Come on!
07:55You know, the season begins with Antoine as...
07:58Antoine is hoping for a flashy new fragrance and a Michelin star to help him hold on to his
08:07umpire as he's getting a divorce.
08:11So, he's navigating in hot waters.
08:13And alongside that, we can detect that despite the fact that him and Sylvie have been separated
08:20for a little while, he wouldn't mind rekindling that flavor.
08:23Mm-hmm.
08:24So, to be continued.
08:26I've been re-watching Emily in Paris.
08:30And Mindy's outfits?
08:31OMG, eight down.
08:32For Bridge and Mind.
08:35That thanks to Marilyn Fatusi and all, you know, I feel like it's been really fun over
08:40the seasons to watch all of our characters kind of find their own fashion rhetoric.
08:44Yeah.
08:45And how they, again, how they influence each other and how being in Paris has influenced
08:50that too, so...
08:51There's an earthquake.
08:52That was an earthquake.
08:53Yeah, there is an earthquake.
08:54There was an earthquake, right?
08:55I thought you were kicking my chair this whole time.
08:56No, there is an earthquake.
08:57Yeah, there's an earthquake.
08:58It's still still growing.
08:59It's still shaking.
09:00It is.
09:01Okay, let's keep going and then finish.
09:02Yeah, they are.
09:03Sorry.
09:04Wow.
09:05Okay, what were we saying?
09:06Let's talk about clothes.
09:07Yes.
09:08Yeah, absolutely.
09:09Yes.
09:10Yes.
09:11Yes.
09:12Yes.
09:13Yes.
09:14Yes.
09:15Yes.
09:16Yes.
09:17Yes.
09:18Yes.
09:19Yes.
09:20Yes.
09:21Yes.
09:22Yes.
09:23Yes.
09:24Yes.
09:25Yes.
09:26Yes.
09:27Yes.
09:28Yes.
09:29Not actually.
09:30Yes.
09:31Oh my god.
09:32Yes.
09:33Obviously.
09:34Natural disasters.
09:35Emily Ferris, the movie The Natural Disaster.
09:36Oh my god.
09:37Oh my god.
09:38Oh my god.
09:39I think that, especially this season, we've explored a lot with, like, structure and silhouette
09:43with Mindy as well in terms of performances, but I think that, um, yeah, for me, I go from
09:48a logistical side of, like, can I move in this? Can I turn in this? Can I use the bathroom
09:54I used the bathroom in the middle of the shooting day.
09:57That's a big thing.
09:58Yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:58But yeah, I always like her and with all of our hair and makeup teams too.
10:01I remember with Carol and Julien and they,
10:03it feels like a big like art piece every time we do like a performance.
10:07So yeah.
10:10Oh, it's very long.
10:12Oh, la, la, la, la, la, la, la.
10:15We are two hours.
10:16Oh, this season, Luke became my favorite character.
10:27Oh, he's really funny and he always makes an effort with his friends,
10:32especially, of course, with Emily.
10:35Like taking her to the spot he visits each year on his birthday,
10:39taking her to the movies so she can improve her French
10:43and even sharing popcorn with her.
10:47That's fantastic.
10:48Whenever he's invited somewhere, he shows up
10:51and I thought his birthday gift was very cute
10:54because the book obviously means something to him.
10:57So it was really nice of him to share it with Emily.
11:01Overall, Luke deserves more love
11:04and I really hope he gets more screen time in season four
11:09so we can get to know him more.
11:12Agreed.
11:12Agreed.
11:13Agreed.
11:14That's a good comment.
11:16And you will be very happy with that new season
11:23because I think we know very much more of Luke,
11:28of where he's living, his personal life,
11:33some patience, strange patience like Luke is.
11:37And I am very happy with what the author gave to me
11:44because I have the opportunity to show a lot of things
11:47and to show a lot of things to Luke for all the audience.
11:52I'm so enjoying the four seasons
11:54and I'm sure the audience will discover so many things of Luke.
12:00So, stay tuned.
12:07Emily is very charming and has such a positive aura.
12:11Whenever she fails or is embarrassed,
12:12I sometimes pause and think what I'd do if I was in her position.
12:16Gosh, I might have resigned already or moved back to Chicago
12:20with everything that happened to me.
12:21But she uses all those setbacks to be better.
12:25I appreciate that because I feel like I love that Emily is so positive
12:29and trusting before she's distrusting.
12:33And I feel that there's a real innate positivity about her
12:37that also can kind of sprinkle into any situation.
12:42And I think she's learned over the season,
12:44specifically this one about it's okay to be vulnerable
12:46and asking for help more as a strength and not a weakness.
12:50And imagine moving to a foreign city
12:52and not having friends or family to talk to.
12:54You wouldn't have the backbone to be vulnerable to.
12:58And now she's been here for seasons.
13:01She has that outreach and I think it's really important
13:04for her to feel the feelings
13:05and like have the people to go to to express them.
13:08So, I was grateful for this season
13:09to be able to lean into the vulnerability.
13:12And have the support system to like help her.
13:15And I feel like the positivity that she has
13:18is really like is infecting in a positive way Sylvie,
13:22which is something that, you know,
13:23has to do with the French and American culture
13:25and very much so.
13:27Yeah, that is what you're in.
13:28Yeah, and I really appreciate that.
13:30I like it.
13:31Okay.
13:33Oh, that starts really well.
13:35I love, love, love Sylvie.
13:38Aw.
13:39There's something about this character
13:40that makes me want to know more about her life,
13:42her past, her rise to success,
13:44her marriage, and what drives her.
13:46I love that she's so unapologetic.
13:49I love that too.
13:50Oh, she's so strong.
13:52She's taught me about strength and courage a lot.
13:56When we started season one,
13:57I was watching Betty Davis' films
13:59and thinking, oh my God, that could be Sylvie.
14:01Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
14:02That's cool.
14:03But, yeah, Betty Davis was an inspiration.
14:06But we discover stuff as we go.
14:09Yeah.
14:10We're like, this is all a compliment.
14:12We're all like, ah.
14:12Yeah, yeah.
14:13Ah!
14:13I love how Mindy is always there for Emily.
14:20Oh, yeah.
14:21We love that too.
14:22But I feel...
14:23I love how you're always there for me too, yeah.
14:24I feel like you have taught me...
14:28Well, Lily.
14:30Emily...
14:31Emily!
14:31Emily!
14:32Emily in the show.
14:33Emily has learned a lot about, like,
14:35that soul female friendship through Mindy.
14:38And so much of her vulnerability
14:40is because of having a safe space in Mindy.
14:44And Mindy is always there for Emily.
14:46And I feel like we get to see a little bit
14:49of Emily being there for Mindy
14:51and, like, reciprocating this season,
14:53which I think is necessary
14:55because it's a two-way friendship.
14:56I feel like we've learned a lot.
14:57As you were talking about learning
14:58from our characters and writing too,
15:00I think, like, Emily and Mindy's friendship
15:02really inspired us as adults too
15:04to be like, what do we value in friendships?
15:06Yeah.
15:06And what do we value in each other?
15:08Yeah.
15:09But, yeah, this season especially,
15:10I feel like we see a lot of...
15:12Now they have a shared space for a while
15:14and they're very comfortable with each other
15:16and they go deeper.
15:17A little too comfortable.
15:18Yeah.
15:21Did anyone else think that Julian's email
15:24at the end of season three
15:26might be to Madeleine?
15:28Madeleine.
15:29Madeleine Wheeler.
15:30It seemed like he typed it in English on purpose.
15:34Usually they show texts sent in French.
15:37Examples?
15:38Texts between Sylvie and Laurent.
15:40Shown in French first but translated to English.
15:43Or am I thinking way too into this?
15:46Just a thought on a possible story plot twist
15:49for season four.
15:51Yeah.
15:52Interesting fan theory.
15:53That's actually interesting.
15:54That's an interesting fan theory.
15:56That would mean that Julian contact Madeleine
16:01and then fly to Chicago
16:03and become Julian in Chicago, writers.
16:08And then it becomes like a massive spin-off
16:10with like seven seasons.
16:11Samuel Arnold, the actors, has to do it.
16:15I'm sorry.
16:15And then they make five movies.
16:18And yeah, keep sending those things, please.
16:23Like that gives people ideas.
16:25And give me jobs.
16:26Thanks for watching, guys.
16:28Be sure to tuning in to Emily in Paris season four,
16:33August 15.
16:35Part one.
