00:00:00Oh
00:00:30Evening water
00:01:00Any problems?
00:01:02No, I just walked it straight out of the evidence room
00:01:07And you're sure no one will miss it
00:01:10God, no
00:01:12Nobody believes that crackpot story. Anyway, the case is closed as far as we're concerned
00:01:21Good
00:01:24You got the money
00:01:30And don't count it in front of me. It's bad manners
00:01:45Of course
00:01:52I trust you
00:01:54Now get the fuck out of here. This isn't a social visit
00:02:02That means me
00:02:21So
00:02:22There is a legend around here, a vintage doll.
00:02:52Possessed by a vengeful spirit, evil working within a symbol of childhood innocence.
00:03:05It's sad that the curse will pass to all those who own the doll, the death curse.
00:03:19Only a few have seen it all and live to tell the tale.
00:03:26Some have even tried to destroy it.
00:03:32But no one has succeeded.
00:03:39Robert is watching, waiting.
00:03:45Ready to inflate the death and destruction on anyone who curses this time.
00:03:54Let's go.
00:03:55Let's go.
00:03:56Let's go.
00:03:57Let's go.
00:03:59Let's go.
00:04:00Let's live with you.
00:04:02Let's go.
00:07:05Walter Berenson hired me.
00:07:07I'm supposed to meet a lady named Ethel.
00:07:09Oh, she's inside.
00:07:10Okay, thanks.
00:07:11Oh, one piece of advice, little lady.
00:07:14Yeah?
00:07:16I've got my name on a bunch of stuff in there.
00:07:19He means it literally, you know.
00:07:20He wrote his name on milk cartons and stuff.
00:07:22Shut up.
00:07:23Some people, some people who've worked here before chose to ignore those labels.
00:07:28They ate my food, stole my tea bags.
00:07:33I don't like those people.
00:07:35I want to like you.
00:07:38So, when you get in there, don't give me a reason not to.
00:07:42Uh, okay.
00:07:45Lighten up, Stan.
00:07:46Come on, let's get to work.
00:07:57You're looking for me?
00:07:58Ethel?
00:07:59Yeah.
00:08:00Hey, I'm Emily, I'm Emily, the new cleaning assistant.
00:08:03Walter said you'd turn me around.
00:08:05Walter.
00:08:07That guy's a prick.
00:08:10He's got no idea the work that we're putting down here.
00:08:12Too busy it is country club, hobnobbing with the other rich dickheads.
00:08:20Anyway, sit down, love.
00:08:28Coffee?
00:08:29Oh, yes, please.
00:08:36You'll be needing this.
00:08:38Thanks.
00:08:40So, this job.
00:08:42Part of your life's plan, is it?
00:08:44Always want to clear up after other people.
00:08:46Not exactly.
00:08:48I'm a student.
00:08:49I needed some extra cash and this job came up.
00:08:52I'm a night owl anyway, so the late shifts will see you at me.
00:08:55Yeah?
00:08:56Well, I've been working nights for over a decade.
00:08:58And it's no walk in the park, I can tell you.
00:09:01Your body clock gets all screwed up.
00:09:03Even on your day off, you're hungry at two o'clock in the morning.
00:09:06Because your body still thinks it's time for lunch.
00:09:11Skin and hair go to shit, too.
00:09:13Anything good about working the night now?
00:09:16Yeah.
00:09:19Knocking off at 8am means it's socially acceptable to drink vodka in the morning.
00:09:23Well, this is 1940s wartime.
00:09:32One of the sections you'll be assigned to.
00:09:34Okay.
00:09:35You'll be dusting and polishing in here, as well as brushing and mopping the floor.
00:09:41As I said, you know, it's not rocket science and only to overcomplicate things.
00:09:45Okay.
00:09:45I hear a lot of people coming through here every day.
00:09:50One thing you learn about people is that they are disgusting.
00:09:55They eat food, wipe snot on their hands, then they touch the exhibits.
00:09:58They leave greasy handprints everywhere.
00:10:03I mean, especially on the glass cases.
00:10:05Make sure to get those off.
00:10:09It's kids, mostly.
00:10:11You got any?
00:10:12No.
00:10:13Me neither.
00:10:15I'm barren, thank Christ.
00:10:16Everything you need is in here.
00:10:26Pretty obvious, really.
00:10:28I'm assuming you're not a moron.
00:10:30So I don't expect you to do any crazy shit, like any bleach and any mannequin uniforms.
00:10:35Of course not.
00:10:36That's what one cleaning assistant did.
00:10:38Hence why you're in the hot seat.
00:10:40It all seems pretty straightforward.
00:10:41Let's use a bit of initiative.
00:10:44Don't bring any drama to my door and we'll get along just fine.
00:10:47Okay.
00:10:52Now let me show you a newest exhibit.
00:10:56Another section that you'll be responsible for.
00:10:59Okay.
00:11:00It's not my cup of tea, but I don't understand it.
00:11:05People flock to see this thing.
00:11:07There'll be plenty of handprints left on the glass each night.
00:11:11What's that all about?
00:11:13What?
00:11:13The sign.
00:11:15Oh, there.
00:11:17It's just a money-making scheme that Walter's into.
00:11:21He tells everyone that the doll is haunted.
00:11:24So the ghost-obsessed ghouls come here to take pictures.
00:11:29He gets a tour guide to tell them.
00:11:33If they don't ask Robert's permission to take a photo, then the doll will put a curse on them.
00:11:37Sounds interesting.
00:11:38The museum was dead before this thing came here.
00:11:43Now all of a sudden people are flocking.
00:11:46So you don't believe in the supernatural, then?
00:11:48It's a load of rubbish, if you ask me.
00:11:51People play it up to make money.
00:11:53Anyway, let's get on.
00:12:00Emily?
00:12:01Yeah?
00:12:01Don't let your imagination run away with you.
00:12:04I won't.
00:12:05Don't let your imagination run away with you.
00:12:06I won't let your imagination run away with you.
00:12:07I won't let your imagination run away with you.
00:12:08I won't let your imagination run away with you.
00:12:09I won't let your imagination run away with you.
00:12:10I won't let your imagination run away with you.
00:12:11I won't let your imagination run away with you.
00:12:12I won't let your imagination run away with you.
00:12:13I won't let your imagination run away with you.
00:12:14I won't let your imagination run away with you.
00:12:15I won't let your imagination run away with you.
00:12:16I won't let your imagination run away with you.
00:12:17I won't let your imagination run away with you.
00:12:18I won't let your imagination run away with you.
00:12:19I won't let your imagination run away with you.
00:12:20I won't let your imagination run away with you.
00:12:21I won't let your imagination run away with you.
00:13:22Hi guys.
00:13:44Sorry to bother you, but how many of us are on the night shift tonight?
00:13:46Why?
00:13:47I'm just curious.
00:13:49You, Ethel and us two?
00:13:52Right.
00:13:53What's that?
00:13:55I just thought I saw someone in the corridor.
00:13:58Well, it wasn't either of us, sweetheart.
00:14:01Yeah, I can see you're really busy.
00:14:03How much of the building does this CCTV cover?
00:14:08Just the main entrance, couple of corridors.
00:14:11Herbericent's too tight to give us a system that actually covers the entire building.
00:14:14Do you think you could rewind the tape and check it out?
00:14:16Now, why would we need to do that?
00:14:19I just thought I saw someone in the corridor and wanted to know who it was.
00:14:23Well, it was probably Ethel sneaking off for a fag and leaving you to do all the work.
00:14:27I don't think it was.
00:14:28So what are you saying?
00:14:29You think someone's trespassing?
00:14:30I don't know.
00:14:31Oh, give over, love.
00:14:33Who would want a break into this place, eh?
00:14:36All that's here is some dusty old shit no one actually wants.
00:14:40I don't mind checking things out.
00:14:42Are you sure?
00:14:43No, it's cool.
00:14:44I'll have a walk around.
00:14:46See if anything's wrong.
00:14:48Thanks.
00:15:01Hi.
00:15:02Hey.
00:15:03I did a thorough check and everything seems to be okay.
00:15:06I guess I got it wrong.
00:15:08I could have sworn I saw someone.
00:15:11Well, everything's as it should be, but don't hesitate to give me a shout out if anything concerns you, alright?
00:15:16Okay.
00:15:17That's what I'm here for.
00:15:20Thanks.
00:15:22Ignore Stan.
00:15:24He's getting a little bit grumpy in his old age.
00:15:28Okay.
00:15:29Thanks.
00:15:30You didn't waste any time.
00:15:39You are.
00:15:41Playing the damsel in distress for the handsome young security guard.
00:15:45No, it wasn't like that.
00:15:47He...
00:15:48I thought I saw someone in the corridor.
00:15:50Don't need to make excuses.
00:15:52If I was 20 years younger, I'd certainly give him one.
00:16:00No, it wasn't like that.
00:16:01No.
00:16:02No.
00:16:03No.
00:16:04No.
00:16:05No.
00:16:06No.
00:16:07No.
00:16:08No.
00:16:09No.
00:16:10No.
00:16:11No.
00:16:12No.
00:16:13No.
00:16:14No.
00:16:15No.
00:16:16No.
00:16:17No.
00:16:18No.
00:16:19No.
00:16:20No.
00:16:21No.
00:16:22No.
00:16:23No.
00:16:24No.
00:16:25I don't know.
00:16:55I don't know.
00:17:25I need to show you something.
00:17:48Oh, what is it?
00:17:49Just come and look.
00:17:57Over here.
00:17:59Look.
00:17:59What the hell am I supposed to be seeing here?
00:18:06Wait, that's not right.
00:18:07What?
00:18:17There were handprints on the glass.
00:18:19I told you, people touch the exhibits with their dirty hands.
00:18:22No, you don't understand. The handprints were on the inside of the glass.
00:18:26So what are you saying exactly?
00:18:29I don't know. The doll was...
00:18:32Are you feeling all right?
00:18:34I don't know. Maybe the night shifts are getting to me.
00:18:38Oh, God love, it's only your second night.
00:18:41If you're going loopy on me already, perhaps this ain't the job for you.
00:18:44It's just, I saw the handprints.
00:18:46They were there before I came to find you and now they're gone.
00:18:50It's my fault.
00:18:51I filled your head with all that crap about the doll and it's getting to you.
00:18:57Come on, let's have a break.
00:18:58How are you doing?
00:19:13Hey.
00:19:18You can go ahead and stand on it. I'll catch up.
00:19:20You know, I've got a pretty good emotional radar. What's wrong?
00:19:32Either I'm going crazy or there's something strange going on.
00:19:36What do you think is going on?
00:19:37I don't know, but I'm getting a bad feeling about that doll.
00:19:41What, Robert the doll?
00:19:42Yeah.
00:19:43Is he creeping you out?
00:19:45A bit.
00:19:46The thing is, I saw these handprints on the doll's glass case and they look like the doll's handprints.
00:19:53Really?
00:19:55Somebody playing a joke?
00:19:57I don't know, maybe.
00:19:58A Stan and Ethel into practical jokes?
00:20:00Definitely not.
00:20:03Maybe someone working on the day did it.
00:20:05Well, what else could it be?
00:20:08Sounds crazy, but maybe what they say about the doll is true.
00:20:12What, all that haunted stuff?
00:20:13Yeah.
00:20:14Do you believe in all that?
00:20:16Not really, but, I don't know, since I've been working here I've seen things I don't have a rational explanation for.
00:20:22Have you seen anything strange?
00:20:25No.
00:20:26But I've got to be honest, this job doesn't exactly require much concentration.
00:20:30I mean, nothing happens here.
00:20:32I kind of just zone out most of the time.
00:20:35I'll tell you what, I'll be a bit more vigilant from now on, yeah?
00:20:37Do you think I'm crazy?
00:20:42Well, I don't know you that well, so I can't say for sure.
00:20:44I guess not.
00:20:46But I'd like to.
00:20:48What?
00:20:49Get to know you.
00:20:49After work, I usually go to this 24-hour diner around the corner.
00:20:56I was just wondering if you wanted to come with me tonight.
00:20:59Uh.
00:21:00Sorry, that was a bit forward, don't worry about it, I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable.
00:21:06No, I'd like to.
00:21:09You would?
00:21:10Yeah.
00:21:11Oh, okay, great, well I'll meet you in reception at eight then?
00:21:17Sure.
00:21:18Um, cool, alright, I'd better catch up with Stan.
00:21:22Yeah, I'm going to get back to him.
00:21:23Okay.
00:21:24See you later.
00:21:24See you later.
00:21:25See ya.
00:21:26Bye.
00:21:32So, um, what are you studying?
00:21:34Sociology.
00:21:36Sounds interesting.
00:21:37It's not really.
00:21:39To be honest, I only took it because I didn't know what to do after finishing school.
00:21:42I had a couple of years off, worked a few jobs, nothing really worked out,
00:21:46so I decided to go back to uni.
00:21:49Yeah, I know what you mean.
00:21:51I wanted to be a photographer.
00:21:54Photography didn't pay the bills.
00:21:56So, I took the security work.
00:21:59I mean, at first I still called myself a photographer,
00:22:02and security was just a temp thing.
00:22:06But now?
00:22:10Now I have to be honest with people when they ask me what I do for a living.
00:22:14I'm a security guard.
00:22:16Still plenty of time to follow your dream.
00:22:20Yeah, I guess so.
00:22:21At least you know what your dream is.
00:22:24So, um, how are you feeling about everything in the museum now, then?
00:22:30Not great.
00:22:32Helps to know that you'll be there, though.
00:22:33I'm a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who's a person who

00:28:59Stan?
00:29:01Stan?
00:29:03Stan?
00:29:05Stan?
00:29:06Stan?
00:29:10Stan?
00:29:12Stan?
00:29:14Stan?
00:29:16So, uh, Mrs. Mason, you say you were in the staff room between 1am and 1.30?
00:29:43That's right.
00:29:44Just you, all on your own.
00:29:46Yes.
00:29:47I was there too, but I popped out to make a phone call.
00:29:51Oh, how long did you pop out for?
00:29:54I was on the phone for about 20 minutes.
00:29:57What about you, uh, Kevin?
00:30:00Where were you when this was all, uh, going off?
00:30:02I was in the security station.
00:30:05So you went to look for Mr. Graves? About half one, correct?
00:30:09Yeah.
00:30:10He'd been gone for about 45 minutes, and it doesn't take that long to do a walkthrough.
00:30:13Shit. It's Berenson.
00:30:18Does somebody want to tell me what the hell is going on around here?
00:30:21Mr. Berenson.
00:30:24Yes?
00:30:25Detective Atkins.
00:30:27I was told an employee was hurt.
00:30:29It's a bit more serious than that.
00:30:31Your employee, Mr. Graves, is dead.
00:30:34You planning on turning my museum into a crime scene?
00:30:41At the moment.
00:30:41Just calm down.
00:30:42We open to the public at 9 a.m.
00:30:45I certainly hope you'll be done by then.
00:30:48Well, I'm fairly sure we will be.
00:30:50Good.
00:30:51If I could just have a word in private.
00:30:57Why?
00:30:58Oh, it would just be good to go through a few things.
00:31:02We can use my office.
00:31:06Sadi.
00:31:07Uh, just get phone numbers and addresses off the staff, will you?
00:31:10Yeah.
00:31:11We're going to have to contact them again.
00:31:12Yeah.
00:31:13All right.
00:31:14Put your name, darling.
00:31:15Emily Barker.
00:31:16And what's your phone number, am I?
00:31:210771636425.
00:31:32Are you thinking about Stan?
00:31:35Yeah.
00:31:38I know he was grumpy, but he was a good guy deep down.
00:31:43I'm sure he was.
00:31:45Was he married?
00:31:46No, he never had any kids either.
00:31:49It's kind of sad that he didn't leave anyone special behind.
00:31:54This might not be the right time to say it,
00:31:57but there's something strange going on in that museum.
00:32:02The doll?
00:32:03Yeah.
00:32:06I know it sounds like I've lost my mind,
00:32:08but I know what I've seen.
00:32:10Ethel said people believe the doll is possessed,
00:32:13and I can't help but think it might be true.
00:32:14I really don't know if I can go back there, you know.
00:32:19You're thinking about quitting?
00:32:21To be honest, yeah.
00:32:23Perhaps you should too.
00:32:24I can't.
00:32:25I've got bills to pay.
00:32:26So have I, but...
00:32:28I just can't help feeling more bad stuff is going to happen.
00:32:31Don't quit.
00:32:32Not yet.
00:32:34I'll be there.
00:32:35I won't let anything happen to you.
00:32:36Why do you care what happens to me?
00:32:40Because I like you.
00:32:43You do?
00:32:44Yeah.
00:32:45Why?
00:32:47Is there a reason why I shouldn't?
00:32:49Plenty.
00:32:51I'm awkward.
00:32:53Unsociable.
00:32:54You just did that to shut me up, didn't you?
00:33:06You don't know how beautiful you are.
00:33:09I'm not.
00:33:10Yes, you are.
00:33:11You are.
00:33:35Hey, Ethel, would you mind taking the Robert Exhibition for me tonight?
00:33:44Why?
00:33:45I just can't face going down there.
00:33:48Well, after what's happened to Stan, it won't be a barrel of laughs for me either, sweetheart.
00:33:53I know, I'm sorry, I'll do it, it's fine.
00:33:56Alright, we can swap. Makes you feel that uncomfortable.
00:34:35Hey.
00:34:37Hi.
00:34:38You okay?
00:34:39Yeah, just weird without Stan around.
00:34:43Yeah, must be difficult.
00:34:45Just take something to get used to.
00:34:49Hi.
00:34:50Hi.
00:34:51You okay?
00:34:52Yeah, just weird without Stan around.
00:34:53Yeah, must be difficult.
00:34:54Just take something to get used to.
00:34:56Oh, for Christ's sake.
00:34:57Oh, for Christ's sake.
00:35:01Hi.
00:35:02Hi.
00:35:03Hi.
00:35:04Hi.
00:35:05Hi.
00:35:06Hi.
00:35:07Hi.
00:35:08Hi.
00:35:09Hi.
00:35:10Hi.
00:35:11Hi.
00:35:12Hi.
00:35:13Hi.
00:35:14Hi.
00:35:15Good.
00:35:16Hi.
00:35:17Hi.
00:35:18Hi.
00:35:19Hi.
00:35:20Oh, for Christ's sake.
00:35:21What happened between us at your place? I hope you don't think it was just a one-time thing.
00:35:44It really meant something to me.
00:35:50It meant something to me too.
00:36:20Stay here! No, I'm going with you!
00:36:36Stay here! No, I'm going with you!
00:36:41No, I'm going with you!
00:36:54So, let's get this straight. You and Mr...
00:37:09Kevin. Kevin, Kevin. When you got to the scene about 11.30ish, you found that there was rubbish from the storage room all over the floor and the door was open.
00:37:20Yes. Why do I have to keep telling you the same thing over and over?
00:37:27Just establishing the facts. I mean, there have been two fatalities in this location in a matter of days. I think that raises a few questions, don't you?
00:37:38Yes. But you're asking the wrong person.
00:37:43Miss Barker, have you got something to tell me that might help with this investigation?
00:37:49If I told you what I really think, you'd think I was crazy.
00:37:55Try me.
00:38:00Alright.
00:38:04Ever since I started working there, there's something about that doll that just doesn't feel right.
00:38:12Doll?
00:38:17Yeah. On the ground floor, there's an exhibit called Robert. It's an old vintage doll.
00:38:24Well, that doll your boss claims is haunted so we can drive ticket prices up.
00:38:30Yeah. Only I think it might be true.
00:38:35And what makes you think that?
00:38:39I've had a couple of strange experiences.
00:38:43I saw handprints that were on the inside of the doll's glass case.
00:38:48I swear I've seen the doll in the corridors too.
00:38:51Well, that's quite a theory, isn't it?
00:38:56Check the CCTV for God's sake. There's cameras all over the building.
00:39:00The tapes must have picked something up.
00:39:02No, we've checked the CCTV.
00:39:04And?
00:39:05Nothing untoward there.
00:39:11Look, Miss Barker, I've got to focus all of my efforts on finding a viable human suspect for these deaths.
00:39:21Are you saying I'm a suspect?
00:39:23I'm saying you and your pal, Kevin, best not leave town any time soon, eh?
00:39:32I don't even know why I was called in as a suspect.
00:39:35Are you okay?
00:39:36No, I'm not okay.
00:39:37Well, what did they say?
00:39:38Sam's death wasn't an accident and neither was Ethel's.
00:39:41There was no one else in the building, so we're the suspects.
00:39:43Yeah, they said the same thing to me too. What the hell are we going to do?
00:39:46We need to prove that the doll did this.
00:39:51The woman claims a possessed doll murdered her son's babysitter.
00:39:56Jennifer Otto, 35, made the outlandish claim on the day that her son, 10-year-old Eugene Otto,
00:40:02was charged with the murder of 17-year-old Marcy Richmond and his own father, Paul.
00:40:07A 36-year-old lawyer.
00:40:10Hey, Em, come and check this out.
00:40:12Mother of murderous child committed, Jennifer Otto, whose son Eugene was found guilty of the murder of his father, Paul Otto,
00:40:26has today been committed to the East State Mental Health Hospital.
00:40:29Mrs Otto, 35, claimed that a doll given to her son by their now-deceased housekeeper, Agatha Blackwood,
00:40:35was inhabited by an evil spirit which influenced her son to attack his father with a knife.
00:40:40So it's not just Walter's bullshit then. That doll really does have a fucked up history.
00:40:45What if this Jennifer Otto isn't crazy?
00:40:48What if the doll really is possessed and all this happened just like she says?
00:40:52Then I think we need to go and talk to her.
00:41:01Mrs Otto?
00:41:03Hi.
00:41:08Do I know you?
00:41:09No.
00:41:11I'm Emily and this is Kevin.
00:41:17What's this about?
00:41:20Robert the doll.
00:41:22Do you know where he is?
00:41:30Yeah.
00:41:32We work in a museum in the town of East Falls.
00:41:35Robert's one of the exhibits there.
00:41:38Oh, God, no.
00:41:40You need to quit.
00:41:42We know.
00:41:44Two of our colleagues have already died and we think maybe the doll has something to do with it.
00:41:49There's no maybe about it.
00:41:53The doll's possessed.
00:41:55As far away from it as you can.
00:41:58The police consider us suspects for the murders.
00:42:01We need to prove that the doll did it or we could end up in jail.
00:42:03If I could prove that my son wouldn't be in juvenile detention and I wouldn't be in this place.
00:42:12No one believes me.
00:42:14Maybe you could help us then.
00:42:15Is there anything that's not in the media that you could tell us about the doll?
00:42:24Okay, a couple who once owned the doll told me that the spirit inside Robert is a boy called Robert Crowe.
00:42:45He was murdered by his father.
00:42:46He was murdered by his father.
00:42:48It was said that the spirit lay dormant for years and then Agatha, my former housekeeper, stirred it up.
00:42:55When my son was arrested, I did some digging and I discovered it wasn't Agatha who encouraged the evil inside Robert.
00:43:07I spoke to a psychic, okay, and she claimed a male energy connected to Agatha.
00:43:15He encouraged the evil inside Robert.
00:43:18Did they say who the man was?
00:43:22No, but apparently Agatha has a brother.
00:43:28Blackwood, Amos, Amos, Amos Blackwood.
00:43:32But he must be operating under a false identity now though because I couldn't find any public record of him after age 30.
00:43:40But there's no obituary, there's no details of death, there's nothing.
00:43:43It's like he just vanished off the face of the earth.
00:43:46The psychic thinks he's still alive.
00:43:49She said he owned a business and was seeking to profit from the misfortune of others.
00:43:55Berenson?
00:43:57The police said there wasn't any footage of Robert on the CCTV.
00:44:02I bet Berenson replaced the tapes.
00:44:05Who are you talking about?
00:44:06The museum owner.
00:44:08You should ask the police to check his background.
00:44:11Yeah, we will.
00:44:12If he's Amos Blackwood living under a new name then the police should be able to prove it.
00:44:17Let's do it.
00:44:18Wait, look.
00:44:19If this turns out to be nothing and you can't get anyone to believe you, you just do whatever you can to destroy that doll.
00:44:33Before it destroys you like it did me.
00:44:40That doll has killed several people.
00:44:43At least you're still alive.
00:44:46You call this being alive.
00:44:47I'm sorry.
00:44:48I didn't...
00:44:49You know that thing might have left me breathing but it took my life in every other way.
00:45:02Everything I ever loved is gone.
00:45:07All that's left is four walls.
00:45:12The only way I can live now is inside my head.
00:45:17You know, when you're left alone with your thoughts, you find yourself outnumbered.
00:45:23You know, I can quieten my head for like a minute but then the past always comes back to haunt me.
00:45:32I used to ask myself why.
00:45:42But I know now.
00:45:47It's fate.
00:45:50It's like this concrete thing.
00:45:58Everyone has to deal with it.
00:46:01Sooner or later.
00:46:05You know, even if you succeed in killing the doll, that's the thing you can't kill.
00:46:13What's that?
00:46:18Damnation.
00:46:22It doesn't die.
00:46:25Like people do.
00:46:31Fate will never forget.
00:46:42So what do you want to do?
00:46:44You need to talk to Atkins and get him to look into Berenson.
00:46:47So what if Berenson is Agatha's brother and has some interest in the supernatural?
00:46:51I mean, how does that get us off the hook as murder suspects?
00:46:54We need to find a way to connect the doll and Berenson to the deaths.
00:46:57Yeah, and how the hell are we going to do that?
00:46:59There's a range of meeting with Berenson at the museum.
00:47:02We could tape the conversation and get Atkins to turn up.
00:47:05Maybe we could get Berenson to confess to knowing the doll is dangerous.
00:47:08But he already advertises that.
00:47:11Well, what do you suggest we do?
00:47:13We need to prove that the doll did this and we've got no video evidence, nothing.
00:47:17I do have one idea.
00:47:20Are you sure you want to go through with this?
00:47:25Yeah.
00:47:26I think we owe it to Stan and Ethel.
00:47:38Berenson.
00:47:39Mr. Berenson, this is Kevin Underwood.
00:47:41Who?
00:47:42One of the night security guards.
00:47:44What do you want?
00:47:45I make copies of the tapes.
00:47:50Tapes?
00:47:53What tapes?
00:47:55The CCTV tapes.
00:47:59What are you talking about?
00:48:03You know what's on those tapes, don't you, Mr. Berenson?
00:48:07Well, tell me how you made copies so quickly.
00:48:10When those tapes disappeared, before the police even knew to ask for them.
00:48:16Well, after both murders, I went straight to the CCTV.
00:48:19Filmed the footage right onto my phone.
00:48:23Fuck.
00:48:25How do you think people are going to react when they find out that one of your exhibits caused the death of two innocent people?
00:48:32I'll tell you how it reflects on me.
00:48:35I'll make a fucking fortune.
00:48:37That doll's legend will grow even more.
00:48:40People will be cramming through the door, paying any price I ask, just to take a glimpse of that ugly bastard.
00:48:46I don't think so, Mr. Berenson.
00:48:48There's fun for customers in seeing something spooky.
00:48:50There's no fun in seeing something that will fucking kill you.
00:48:53Customers are going to run to the hills when they find out how dangerous that thing is.
00:48:56What does any of this have to do with me?
00:49:00I want you to meet me at the museum tonight at eight o'clock.
00:49:05I'll give you the phone with the footage on it, and don't worry I'll keep you a little secret.
00:49:10Yeah?
00:49:12And what's in it for you?
00:49:13A hundred thousand. Cash.
00:49:18So, that's what this is about, huh? Blackmail.
00:49:22You're a businessman. I'm a businessman. Just think of it as a business transaction.
00:49:27Fuck you.
00:49:29Alright. I'll take the footage to the cops then.
00:49:32And you think your murderous doll theory will stand up in court? Give me a break.
00:49:37Yeah? Well, what do you think is going to happen when the police find out that you've been tampering with evidence in a double murder investigation?
00:49:44I mean, whether they believe the doll theory or not, it doesn't matter.
00:49:47Tampering with evidence is a serious offence. You could get some quality jail time.
00:49:52And do you know what those muscle-bound lifers do to pencil-necks like you in jail?
00:49:57How do I know you've really got copies of the tapes?
00:50:02Can you really afford to take the risk?
00:50:05And what about that girl that cleaned her with the glasses?
00:50:10Does she know anything about this?
00:50:12I'll split the money with her.
00:50:14And don't worry, neither of us will say anything if we get the cash.
00:50:18Okay. I'll play your game.
00:50:21I'll see you tonight.
00:50:23Both of you.
00:50:27Wise choice.
00:50:34You didn't record the footage on your phone?
00:50:39He doesn't know that.
00:50:41He's admitted that he's hid the tapes because there's something incriminating on them.
00:50:45He's basically given himself away already.
00:50:47And what about the money?
00:50:49I needed to show that I had a motive that didn't involve the cops.
00:50:53Don't worry, I don't want his money.
00:50:55This is about clearing our names.
00:50:56So, now what you're saying is your boss has hidden the real CCTV footage taken on the night of the murders?
00:51:11Yeah.
00:51:12And you're saying?
00:51:14He did that because the real footage proves that an exhibit from the museum came to life and perpetrated the murders.
00:51:25Is this some kind of joke?
00:51:28We know it sounds crazy, but when we meet with him tonight we'll record the conversation and get him to confess what he's done.
00:51:34Alright, alright. If he's withheld evidence that's why it's a serious offence.
00:51:38But this doll? Come on. What do you kids been smoking?
00:51:43That doll has a dark history. If you haven't heard about it, look it up. There's articles all over the internet.
00:51:48I know all about that.
00:51:50Some kid killed his babysitter and his father and his mother blamed the doll.
00:51:56So, why don't you believe us?
00:51:59Because a jury found him guilty of murder and because his mother ended up in an asylum. Now I don't know about you, but that doesn't sound like a doll was to blame, does it?
00:52:11Look, you don't have to believe us right now. Just come to the museum tonight, we'll record the confession from Berenson and the least you can do is charge him with tampering with evidence in a murder investigation.
00:52:21Okay, Johnny Law. You've got it all worked out, haven't you?
00:52:26Tell me this. Where does that leave me with a viable human suspect, eh?
00:52:30If I can't file a report claiming a doll was responsible for a double murder, they'll laugh me off the force.
00:52:36This is an ongoing investigation. I am gathering evidence. If you two have done nothing wrong, you've got nothing to worry about, have you?
00:52:43If you've left with that, don't you?
00:52:44You've got nothing to worry about, and you've got nothing to worry about.
00:52:46Now, what I suggest is, you drop this plan with your boss. Go home. We're looking to your claims of tampering with evidence. Just let us get on with our job.
00:52:54If you've really done nothing wrong, you can sleep tightly in your bed tonight, can't you?
00:53:12Right, the phone's set. You ready?
00:53:16Yeah. I just really hope this works.
00:53:20It'll be fine. Just stay close, okay?
00:53:29Ah, young love. How nice.
00:53:36You got the money?
00:53:38You've got the footage?
00:53:42It's all on here.
00:53:47Great.
00:53:50Hand it over.
00:54:00You hand over the money, I'll hand over the phone. Both at the same time, yeah?
00:54:06Fair enough. I can do that.
00:54:09Fine.
00:54:12Before we make this exchange, there's one thing I gotta know.
00:54:17Yeah? What?
00:54:18You knew that doll was possessed, didn't you? You put your staff in danger. You put customers in danger, too.
00:54:25That doll was an investment. Nothing more, nothing less. Of course, after I saw the tapes and realized that this haunted doll hype was real, I just accepted that as an unexpected bonus.
00:54:40Yes.
00:54:41We know your real name is Amos Blackwood. You were the one who stirred up the evil spirit inside that doll.
00:54:46I don't know what you're talking about. I was born and bred of Berenson.
00:54:50You're lying. That woman who gave the doll to the Otto family, you're her brother, aren't you?
00:54:55I think you're mistaken, young lady. Are we gonna stand around and chit-chat all night or are we gonna get down to business?
