00:01A proposed undersea electricity interconnection between Egypt and Greece is now set to become a reality.
00:06The two countries through their top leadership renew their pledge during talks in Athens,
00:11following the signing of cooperation agreement across multiple sectors.
00:17We want to give the opportunity to Egyptians, especially young Egyptians, to come legally to our country to work here.
00:23And this is also the best response to those who claim that the policy of Greece and of Europe
00:28is limited solely to restricting illegal immigration.
00:34It should not be the traffickers, Mr. President, who decided who enters the European Union.
00:39It must be an organized decision taken sovereignly by the states of Europe
00:44in close cooperation and coordination with friendly countries such as Egypt.
00:54Among the other deals include a 3,000 MW underwater cable
00:57which will stretch nearly 1,000 kilometers across Mediterranean, linking Egypt and Europe.
01:02I also stress the extreme importance that we attach to the electricity interconnection project between Egypt and Greece.
01:08It is not just a bilateral project but also a strategic step with regional and international dimensions
01:14given that it is considered the first direct link for clean energy coming from Egypt to Europe through Greece
01:20and we look forward to the continued support of the European Union for this ambitious project
01:25and to speed up the steps to implement it.
01:29The project is estimated to cost around $4.5 billion
01:32and is expected to become operational within five years under an ambitious timeline set by the both governments.
01:39The project is О'opening in the European Union for this field of the European Union for this field of German Union.
