00:33A Catholic...
00:34I'm gonna let it shine, and if mine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, this pink smoke of mine.
00:46While the world may wait for white smoke or black smoke, we send up pink smoke as our hope that the church may someday welcome women as equals.
00:54Smoke can also be used as a distress signal, and so we are calling this also...
00:59The church is in crisis.
01:01The injustice of women, of their exclusion from ordained ministry and high levels of decision-making is a crisis.
01:08And so our smoke is also a call out to the church to change quickly and to really open its doors to women.
01:14We are saying to the cardinals, you cannot keep ignoring 50% of the Catholic population.
01:20You cannot go into a locked room and discuss the future of the church without half of the church.
01:27And so the very important message that we are sending is that they need to listen to women and they need to include women in more meaningful ways.
01:35And whoever they elect needs to be brave enough to properly tackle that question of women's inclusion.
01:41Because so far, it has not been, even by Pope Francis.
