00:28Talk to me about your look tonight and the theme and the inspiration.

00:31Yeah, so tonight I'm wearing Miu Miu.

00:33And I worked with my friend who's also an amazing stylist and editor, Gabriela Carifa Johnson.

00:39Oh, I love her.

00:40Yeah, she's the best.

00:41And she thought of so many ways that we could interpret this look.

00:44And we really went with this one because it's a celebration of Zelda Wynne Valdez,

00:50who was a fashion designer in the late 40s.

00:53And she was trained by her uncle in his men's tailoring shop,

00:56then went on to open her own dressmaking store in Washington Heights.

01:01Wow.

01:01Oh, Washington Heights.

01:02Got out to Washington Heights.

01:03Yeah, but she took her training from her, you know, her tailoring background,

01:07and she brought that to the female form, which at the time was, you know,

01:12different and new and kind of risky.

01:14And went on to design some really iconic pieces.

01:19And I think to celebrate her tonight is so exciting in this space

01:23that maybe a lot of people would only leave for men or suiting.

01:27And I think that she really took on the essence of black dandyism.

01:31You feel like you're really expressing yourself individually.

01:34I hope that this is a dress maybe she would have designed for me.

01:38It has tailoring and glamour.

01:40It's gorgeous.
