Trump Blames 'Grossly Incompetent' Newsom For Hollywood's Problems When Defending Movie Tariffs

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, President Trump defended his movie tariffs and slammed Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA).

00:00Can you explain a little bit about how you would implement tariffs on the film industry,

00:05kind of how that would work?

00:06Well, that's a different story, but our film industry has been decimated

00:11by other countries taking them out, and also by incompetence, like in Los Angeles.

00:16The governor is a grossly incompetent man.

00:18He's just allowed it to be taken away from, you know, Hollywood.

00:22Hollywood doesn't do very much of that business.

00:25They have the nice sign and everything's good, but they don't do very much.

00:28A lot of it's been taken to other countries and a big proportion.

00:33And I'm actually going to meet with some because, you know, there's some advantages, I guess,

00:37and I'm not looking to hurt the industry.

00:39I want to help the industry.

00:41But they've given financing by other countries.

00:44They've given a lot of things, and the industry was decimated.

00:49If you look at how little is done in this country now, you know, you think we were the ones.

00:53We used to do 100, not long ago, 100%.

00:56Now we do almost, like, very little.

01:01Are you in that business, too?

01:02Because he's in so many businesses, you could explain it, but it's not a good situation.

01:08So we're going to meet with the industry.

01:10I want to make sure they're happy with it because we're all about jobs.

01:14That's all what I'm, you know, it's very important.

01:16It's a big industry, but it's an industry now that's, it's really left, it's abandoned the

01:23USA, where it started.

01:25And we'll get it, we'll get it back.
