00:00Elijah Cole came hard to his third straight national title in the ICTSI Philippine Athletic Championship's Men's Pole Vault Competition.
00:09Damae Cabayaca has a report.
00:13For a third time, the Filipino-American sports member Elijah Cole bags championship at the ICTSI Philippine Athletics Championship 2025,
00:22Men's Pole Vault Competition held at the New Clark Stadium in Kapastarlak.
00:26The 27-year-old athlete took home the gold medal after jumping the 5.25 meters wherein he defeated Taiwan's representatives Wang Chang-Chi and Wu Yan-Han with the 5.20-meter marks.
00:39Elijah also beat the national team's contender, Hockett Los Santos, with a 5-meter clearance.
00:45Very rough start, but I didn't want to jump too much at the beginning because it was so hot.
00:49So I just tried to trust what I know already and just less jumps is possible.
00:55So, um, started rough, but then ended up warming up as the bars went higher.
01:01And then, um, actually ended up being a really good day because I ended up on poles that I haven't touched in, like, four, three months.
01:13And so those poles can get me, like, over 550, I think.
01:17Cole's campaign will continue in the Patafa Pole Vault Challenge,
01:19organized by the world number four pole vaulter E.G. Obiena, which will start tomorrow in Imoscavite.
01:26I just, I want to jump high enough to qualify for Asian champs.
01:30Um, I don't know what the height is, but I'm hoping 560.
01:34We're gonna compete again, uh, next, next week.
