00:00There's something about the woods in southern Maine.
00:03The trails twist like forgotten stories and sometimes, if you're in the right place at
00:10the wrong time, those stories ride right past you.
00:15Some believe the forest holds memories, echoes of the past that refuse to die.
00:22One summer day, my father and I crossed paths with something or someone that shouldn't exist.
00:30And to this day, we can't explain what we saw.
00:35Have you ever felt unseen eyes watching you in the dark?
00:39Welcome to Nightfall Crypt, where shadows whisper, the unknown lingers, and every story is waiting
00:46for you to listen, if you dare.
00:50It started as any other ride.
00:53Southern Maine's ATV trails are practically in my blood.
00:57Winding paths carved into woodland and rock, crossing streams and hugging rivers.
01:06I was just six, clinging to my dad's waist as we zipped through a familiar route on his
01:122016 Honda Rancher.
01:14It wasn't deep summer.
01:16The trees were stripped down, either early spring or late fall, so you could see far into
01:23the forest.
01:23The sun peeked through the bare branches and the breeze was warm for the time of year.
01:31Everything felt normal.
01:33As we cruised, I liked to peek over my dad's shoulder to see the trail ahead.
01:41The wind rushed past us, lifting the edge of my jacket.
01:45Then, all of a sudden, my dad eased off the gas.
01:51The engine dropped to a gentle hum.
01:54I heard him mutter, what the hell?
01:59That got my attention.
02:02Ahead of us, a man on a dirt bike, glided across the trail.
02:08Only, he wasn't solid.
02:11Not entirely.
02:12At first, he looked real.
02:16Dressed in full gear, straddling what looked like a KTM 250 or maybe a 450.
02:22But his colours didn't pop.
02:24His bike made no noise.
02:26And even stranger, he faded.
02:29With every foot he crossed, he got more transparent, more unreal.
02:33And then, right in front of us, he disappeared.
02:37We stopped.
02:39My dad didn't speak for a moment.
02:42I looked up at him.
02:45But he just stared at the place where the rider had vanished.
02:49There were no tyre marks.
02:51No sound of a motor fading.
02:53Just the rustle of leaves in the breeze.
02:57We dismounted and checked the area where he'd crossed.
03:01Nothing.
03:03And we could see far into the woods.
03:06If someone had gone that direction, we'd know.
03:09But the trail was empty.
03:11The forest.
03:13Still.
03:15I didn't hear a thing.
03:18I said.
03:20My dad nodded slowly.
03:23Neither did I.
03:24It was eerie.
03:26We were riding a quiet utility quad.
03:30And should have easily heard a bike like that, coming from a mile away.
03:36KTM dirt bikes aren't exactly whisper quiet.
03:39We didn't say much on the way to the river.
03:43I think we both needed time to digest what we'd seen.
03:47When we got there, we sat quietly.
03:51The sunlight danced off the water's surface like nothing had happened.
03:56Eventually, dad said,
03:57Let's just pretend that didn't happen, okay?
04:00And I nodded.
04:02Though I couldn't forget.
04:04Even now, I can still picture that rider.
04:07How quiet he was.
04:09How he just faded away.
04:11Years have passed.
04:14And we still talk about it sometimes in hushed tones.
04:19We both agree on the same details.
04:23Transparent.
04:25Silent.
04:26Gone.
04:26No one else we've told has an answer.
04:29Some laugh at all.
04:31Others suggest tricks of light or hallucinations.
04:34But we know what we saw.
04:37Two sets of eyes.
04:38Same memory.
04:40Same impossibility.
04:41What was it?
04:42A ghost?
04:43A time slip?
04:43A warning?
04:44I don't know.
04:46Not all hauntings come with screams or cold spots.
04:51Some come silently.
04:53Riding across your path.
04:55And vanishing like smoke.
04:58Was it the spirit of a rider lost on that trail?
05:01A glimpse of another time?
05:03Or something else entirely?
05:06I've never seen anything like it since.
05:09But every time I hear a dirt bike in the distance,
05:13I turn.
05:14Half expecting to see him again.
05:17If you ever ride the trails of southern Maine,
05:20keep your eyes open.
05:22You might see him too.
05:23Or maybe you already have.
05:27And so,
05:30the shadows stretch further
05:31and the mystery only deepens.
05:34But this is far from the end.
05:37It's merely the beginning.
05:39What lingers beyond the door?
05:41Who is whispering your name?
05:43And what is that shifting in the corner of your eye?
05:46The answers await in the next chapter of these chilling tales.

06:32Yeah.
