In the win, let's start with the cold figure.
00:03
Beth Hicks got 94 out of 96 goals today.
00:06
Yeah, she was amazing today.
00:08
You know, we didn't expect that because, you know,
00:11
Ballarat were quite close to a couple of teams before,
00:14
so we came here thinking this was going to be a really tough game,
00:17
but she was not strong today.
00:19
She was really confident and we fed food to play until we could have fed better,
00:23
to be honest, but, yeah, she's been amazing for our club
00:27
and, you know, just to see the support that she brings,
00:30
I'd have all the boys come over and support her as well
00:32
when we thought she more than only hit 100 goals.
00:34
She shot 94, which is insane.
00:37
Insane in this league.
00:37
I don't know if anyone's ever shot 100,
00:39
but to do what she did today is insane.
00:41
How do you motivate a team for a game like this?
00:46
I mean, it's a game that you should be winning.
00:48
It's a game that you've got the quality,
00:49
you know you've got the quality team out there.
00:51
I think they said that at an average age of 18.
00:54
How do you get that extra motivation for the girls
00:56
to perform the way they do?
00:57
I think one of the motivations is that we know that, you know,
01:00
we're defending premiers, people are going to want to beat us,
01:03
so we've just got to remember that people come for us
01:05
and we can't let our guard down at every time.
01:07
We do set incremental targets per quarter
01:10
that we have to work to as well,
01:12
and that helps, especially when the score's quite bad.
01:16
But you look at that game there,
01:17
they've got some really good players out there.
01:19
In a couple of years,
01:20
you're going to have a really strong team with all the youth,
01:22
but that's what we have to do to keep our girls motivated.
01:25
Yeah, exactly right.
01:26
So take me through the first four weeks of the season.
01:28
As you said, Redan gave you a bit of a shake-up.
01:30
You had a bit of a, you know,
01:31
you got a fairly convincing win over North Belaride last week.
01:34
That must have done wonders for confidence.
01:35
Yeah, that was surprising.
01:38
The conditions were awful.
01:39
And we're not a good wet weather team.
01:42
We know that because we're so fast and we like to run.
01:44
So that was surprising.
01:47
But I think, as I just said to the girls before,
01:49
we play together all the time now.
01:51
We train together, we play together.
01:52
And I think that's actually starting to shine through,
01:56
that we know each other so well.
01:57
And, you know, we've got some players out still.
01:59
Caitlin Hill's playing Etienne Desire,
02:01
so we won't have her.
02:03
Eliza Glant's still a couple of weeks away from the meniscus injury.
02:07
You know, Tara O'Grady's not here at the moment.
02:13
She's missing the next three.
02:15
So we've got the depth, luckily, to keep going.
02:18
Like, we brought a couple of B-graders up
02:20
and they did exceptionally well today.
02:22
So we've got the depth nine and then A-grade.
02:23
We've got it in B-grade to support those players.
02:26
It's a scary proposition going forward with him.
02:28
Oh, look, but as I said, you know,
02:31
for a jam, for a jam, we're really cool.
02:32
And we've got a couple of really hard games coming up as well.
02:35
We've got Lakes in a couple of weeks
02:36
and I think they were 50 seconds at the moment.
02:38
So, yeah, we just have to keep improving.
02:41
Yeah, exactly.
