Consistent GT top 3 playing good cricket shots with no slogging: Gerald Coetzee

Gerald Coetzee heaped praise on GT's top three batters, saying that the trio are playing good cricket shots with minimal slogging. Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler are amongst the top run-getters in IPL 2025.

00:03At one stage, Gujarat was growing around so nicely in the first 6-7 hours and it was ready towards 250 plus or so.

00:12But we would not diverge into asking any questions of whom should we have promoted in the background.

00:19But do you think that at the fall of the second weekend promoting Rahul Devathya would have been beneficial to go past 250?

00:30I think they made the right decision. I think Washi has been batting really well. I think they just assessed the conditions in which bowlers were left.

00:41I think we still scored way above par, so I don't really think like that.

00:49It was the first match of the season and you had a good idea of how they scored in the first two weeks.

00:57So what changes do you try to do at all in the second week?

01:03Yeah, you just, you see what they did, you see what worked and then you're trying to basically implement what worked for them.

01:11And that's the benefit of bowling second. You can see what the conditions are saying is the best length for the best ball.

01:21This is a question with regards to the batting, GT batting, but you may give us your perspective.

01:33As to, I mean, the top three batters for GT have been great this season.

01:40I mean, it's astonishing consistency actually. So your perspective, your thoughts on how they have been able to do it?

01:48I think they've just, the batters have been, like you said, very consistent and I think they're just playing good cricket shots.

01:54I think there's not much slogging going on. So maybe it's not as flashy, but I mean, it does the job perfectly. And I think they've done it perfectly. Yeah.
