00:00Yeah, I thought Shardell bowled outstandingly, set the tone for us early and then especially

00:07with Abishek and Travis Head the way they go, you're under pressure straight away so

00:12I think Shardell showed his experience against those guys and certainly towards the back

00:17end bowled really well but I think it was just a really good all-round performance for

00:21us and it's nice to enter the tournament with a win.

00:25Before the league match, you said you wanted to effect a winning back lead and you made

00:31sure that Mitch and Prince and Shardell didn't look like they were on a plan, not giving

00:39you room for matters. So what are the thoughts of the Shardell match given that they had

00:43a chance of subverting you?

00:45Yeah, firstly really proud of Prince, I think it's his second IPL game and for him to bowl

00:51the way he did and to execute the way he did will hopefully give him a lot of confidence

00:55moving forward and like I said yesterday or the day before, you rely on your depth in

01:02this tournament, it's a long tournament and for guys like him to get an opportunity early

01:07in the tournament and stand up for us tonight was really impressive.

01:10How important is it to win against Auburn, a team that has a good facility and a good

01:15captain?

01:16Yeah, it's a really good win. Look, we know certainly from last season the way they've

01:20played and they made the final and they're one of the better teams in the competition

01:26so I also think I said yesterday that for us today it was about focusing on what we're

01:31good at and how we want to go about it, certainly early on in the tournament. So I think we

01:36stuck to our guns really well, no need for us to get ahead of ourselves but there's no

01:43easy game in the IPL, every team has a great list so to knock these guys off will hopefully

01:49give us a lot of confidence.

01:53Mitch, obviously you had a good month as well but you also had the best seat in the house

01:57for Nicholas Gooden's family, what was that like?

02:02Yeah, it's fascinating is probably the word I have for it. Obviously you played against

02:09Nicky for a long time and you're often on the other end of that so to be on his team

02:16I feel like I'm really connected with him as a bloke and as someone who I'm going to

02:19hopefully bat with a lot but yeah, it shows how important he is for our team and he's

02:25a fantastic player.

02:28It's the second straight match where you and Puran scored 57 for the 11th of October,

02:35so what was the talking between you and Puran?

02:43Yeah, there's not a lot of chat. I think when someone's in the zone like he is you're

02:48just trying to be in a partnership with him and keep going. He was borderline unstoppable

02:56tonight so there's not a lot of chat in the middle.

03:00Was it a good decision to back up, to bowl first because given the batting line-up of

03:06Saric, how was it planned to bowl first and take a chance?

03:13Yeah, I'm not really a part of those conversations but I don't necessarily think it's a bold

03:21call. It's a bold call to bat first and to try and defend against them as well so depending

03:26on which way you look at it, like I've said, no matter who you're playing against you've

03:30got to play 40 overs of good cricket to win IPL games no matter who you're playing against

03:35so we thought it was best to chase a total tonight on this ground and against them and

03:42we'll assess next game and go from there.

03:46There's always talk about Saric breaching the 800 mark and then you as a team came through

03:51with it and then even crossed 200. So in hindsight, how does it feel? And also you and Puran former

03:57Saric players have finished the match for your team today. How does that feel?

04:02That was a few teams ago for me so it's all good.

04:07So what was the first question?

04:17Yeah, I look just really proud of the bowling unit to step up the way they did today. I

04:23thought we executed, you know, five years ago if a team got 190 and you're sitting here

04:30going we executed beautifully you probably wouldn't have said that so that's the way

04:35the game's going. I really hope we see them get 300 this year, just not against us.
