00:00Is Australian politics too light on for reform these days?

00:05I do think that there is a trivialisation, which is not to our long-term benefit.

00:16I do think that this campaign has been very light on for discussion of the big issues that we must confront.

00:28I think there could have been more discussion of energy policy.

00:34I think there could have been more discussion of immigration policy.

00:38I certainly think there could have been a lot more discussion of national security policy

00:43and the military forces that we are going to need as quickly as possible to keep us safe in a very, very insecure world.

00:53But look, they say in a democracy you get the politicians you deserve.

01:00And as Paul Kelly has been saying, if the campaign has largely focused on fairly mundane issues,
