00:00Good morning, ladies. It's Friday, May 8th. This year, 2020, is flying by. It's hard to
00:10believe that we are already in May of 2020. I remember the first of the year, everybody
00:17was posting their word for the new year. Mine was focus. And boy, have I been challenged
00:24with focusing. It's been a crazy year already. I just can't believe we're already in May
00:31of 2020. I mean, we are, it's just crazy, everything going on. And of course, with the crisis pandemic
00:38that's been going on, keeping the faith has been a challenge for many people. Many people
00:46have been struggling, as we know, with fear, anxiety, depression, domestic abuse has been
00:50on the rise. The divorce rate is on the rise right now. A lot of people filing for divorce
00:55right now. There's just a lot of unsettling stuff taking place right now in our country
01:01and in the world. But I am excited that we're able to get out a little more. I just hope
01:10we all use wisdom. And that's what I'm praying. God, give me wisdom. Just because everybody
01:16else is doing it doesn't mean I have to do it. If they say don't wear a mask, which
01:20I see a lot of people saying, I'm not wearing a mask and all that, don't wear one. And I'm
01:24going to go ahead and wear one. As my husband says, it's a part of loving your neighbor as
01:28yourself. My system may not be compromised, but the person next to me, their system, their
01:35immune system may be compromised. So just out of courtesy, and I believe in Texas, there's
01:41so much change right now. But I believe, I know in Austin right now, we have to wear masks
01:44inside stores and close proximity places that we go to. So I, and I don't have a problem
01:50with it. Yes. Sometimes when I get outside, I have to rip it off and breathe. But I'm just,
01:57you know, I'm just thankful that for another day. I just had my birthday a few days ago
02:01and I literally forgot, no lie, that it was my birthday until I saw that my husband had posted,
02:09tagged me in with this picture from Italy that we went, that we took when we were in Italy for
02:14anniversary last year. And I was like, Oh my word, it's my birthday. I mean, literally I forgot.
02:18That's what this quarantine has done to me. My days are all turned around. Um, but I was reflecting
02:23that day later on. Um, it's, I have another year. Thank you, Jesus. You know, I want to be thankful
02:30for life, be thankful for the little things. Um, through this quarantine, I definitely am valuing
02:38the simple things a lot more. Just sitting outside, listening to the birds. It matters to me.
02:43I don't really care about the big splashes, the big platforms, the big spotlights, all of that,
02:49that America has, is, has been, and is so driven by the big, big, big, big, big. I, I just, I'm just
02:57beyond that right now. And I hope that I keep this in me because I've done a lot of stuff reflecting a
03:02lot of, uh, hitting the reset button. And I just, I want to stay this way. And I pray Lord, help my heart
03:09to stay on this path. I like what I'm feeling. I feel more content, more secure in you, Lord.
03:16But, um, I wanted to just bring, um, I did a series with our women at promised land, um, about five
03:23months ago, four months ago, maybe, or no, I see them all turned around a few months ago and, uh, on
03:29the armor of God. And I'm thinking about maybe doing, uh, bits and pieces of it off and all,
03:35because it's such a powerful lesson on us wearing the armor of God. But I wanted to just bring,
03:41talk about the helmet of salvation, how important it is to wear for our minds. And I wanted to give
03:47you this football analogy. How many football fans do we have? Um, if I'm going to watch a sport,
03:54that's probably the sport I'm most into is football. I feel like it's very lively. I don't get bored.
03:59With baseball, I get a little more bored. I get distracted. But with football, it's usually so
04:04intense. You have to be watching it all the time to see all the moves. But let me give this analogy,
04:09which will tie in about the helmet of salvation. The quarterback is the leader on the field.
04:16He is always under the attack. The defense is always trying to knock him down. They want to make
04:24him ineffective and inefficient. Sitting high above him is an offensive coordinator who sits high in a
04:31booth, the press booth. His job is to speak to the quarterback about what he should be doing in
04:37light of what's coming at him. In light of the attack that the quarterback is under, the
04:42coordinator, excuse me, gives him plays. I'm learning all of this as I read this. I thought this was so,
04:49this intrigued me. These plays can be spoken right into his helmet, into his head. Nowadays,
04:54he can speak to him in his headgear due to the technology that is set up. This coordinator gives
05:03the quarterback instruction on how he is to play. The reason why the coordinator does it is because
05:08he sits up high. He is analyzing the plays of the enemy and what the deliverance ought to be for the
05:16pressure is on the quarterback. Paul says, we are to put on a helmet in this battle to spiritually govern
05:26the mind. The problem of victory or defeat is tied to proper programming. And I just love that analogy
05:35about the football, the coordinator versus the quarterback. If the mind is improperly programmed,
05:40has bad information, then it will function improperly. If you're thinking wrong, you are going to
05:46be wrong. If your mindset is flawed, then your function will be flawed based on flawed thinking.
05:54Amen. The only way you can consistently change your actions is to change your thoughts. If the thought
06:02is wrong, the wrong action will ultimately follow. The enemy is attacking us in our minds. God wants us to
06:10put on the helmet of salvation so he can give us a sound mind and speak truth and power into our minds
06:17because he sits high. He looks low. He can see the field of life. He can examine it better than we can.
06:25And I just, I absolutely just love that analogy about the football coordinator versus the quarterback.
06:32But here's a point that I brought out when we were doing our series with the women at my church.
06:38The helmet of salvation, let me just read it here. Protecting the mind. Romans 8, 7 says the mind of
06:44the flesh is actively hostile to God. It does not submit itself to God's law since it cannot because
06:51it's carnal. The New King James Version says the carnal mind is enmity against God, which means hostility
06:58against God. The helmet of salvation is about your thinking. Does your mind work for you or does it work
07:05against you? If we do not wear the helmet of salvation as a covering, the enemy is going to wreak
07:12havoc over our minds. I mean, look all around us. How much, there's so much chaos going on, even with
07:18Christians, because we're not wearing the helmet of salvation. We're allowing the outside voices to
07:23influence us. When we don't wear the helmet of salvation, we are influenced greatly by the world. We say we're not of
07:29this world, but yet we talk like them. We act like them. Why? Because we are not wearing the helmet of
07:36salvation, so we are not protecting our mind against that. So, without the helmet of salvation, the enemy
07:43will manipulate your emotions and he will make you things that are not true. Oh, amen. Look what he did to Eve.
07:51He charmed his way into her life and had her believe something that was completely false.
07:59Genesis 3 tells us he didn't deny that God had spoken. He agreed, God, yes, God did speak to you,
08:07but he twisted the words of God and Eve fell for it. Satan got inside her mind. It's all about the mind.
08:18What's going on in the mind? The helmet of salvation is your safety net. You may find yourself in a bad
08:25situation, but you will be prepared when you are wearing the helmet of salvation. Philippians 4.13
08:31tells us, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. So, we can think positive thoughts
08:37and join groups to help us to be more positive, which is all fantastic. I'm all for that, but we cannot
08:45do this on our own. We need the helmet of salvation to help us overcome every toxic and negative thought
08:52that is inside of our minds because we are in a spiritual battle. Right, ladies? We are in a
08:57spiritual battle. And I wanted to bring up one more point on the helmet of salvation. It's, I have all
09:04these notes from when I did the Bible study a few months back. The helmet of salvation is another part
09:09of the armor of God that Paul discussed in Ephesians 6. For those of you who need the reference,
09:14scripture reference, it's in Ephesians 6. In the Roman army, the helmet served as protection for the
09:22head. It was a vital piece of armor because an attack to the head could result in an instant death.
09:29It starts in the mind. That's what happens with us when things get inside our mind. We're not wearing
09:35the helmet of salvation. And we start entertaining those thoughts. We allow voices, whether it be the
09:41news media, whether it be social media, whether it be friends, your inner circle, whether it be so-called
09:47spiritual people putting things in your mind that are not of God and that get you off track. It's because
09:53we're not wearing the helmet of salvation. So I used to hear my parents often say, if the devil gets in
10:00your mind, he's got you. He wants to use your mind for his playground. I heard that so many times and I
10:06never truly got it, you know, understood it when I was younger. But honey, I get it now because it's
10:14true. If the devil gets you in your mind, he's got you because then that's all you're thinking about.
10:18Whatever you are entertaining in your mind, if it's negative thoughts, if it's fear, if it's worry,
10:24if it's anxiety, whatever it is, it will take over us and consume our minds. And my parents used to
10:30always say that. And now I'm like, dad, I get it. He was known for that statement. The devil gets you
10:36in your mind, he's got you. Resist the devil. So James 4, 7 tells us, submit to God. Resist the devil
10:43and he will flee. So we need to submit everything. We need to submit all of our preconceived ideas to
10:51Christ and then resist the devil and he will flee. And the last scripture I want to leave you is Proverbs
10:574, 25 about staying focused. Let your eyes look directly forward and your gaze be straight before
11:05you. Because I can tell you this, ladies and gentlemen, if there are gentlemen watching this, if you do not
11:11let your eyes look directly forward towards the hills, towards Jesus Christ, you will get off
11:17track constantly because we are being bombarded, absolutely bombarded by the world's voices,
11:27their system. I mean, you name it, it's out there. And the problem I am seeing with believers,
11:36Christ followers, what we call ourselves, we are Christians. We are godly women. We have to be
11:44careful because if we are not wearing the helmet of salvation, we are going to allow the voices of
11:49the world to come in and influence us and get our eyes off what Jesus has called us to do. He has
11:56commissioned us to go out into the world and preach the gospel, which is the good news of Jesus Christ.
12:02So I implore you to put on the helmet of salvation and resist the devil. Resist those voices. Resist gossip.
12:12Resist negativity. Resist all the stuff going on. Because what I'm noticing is, and this is a whole
12:20other message, is we're kind of like the children of Israel. We complain, we murmur, and then when
12:28something catastrophic happens, we immediately fall on our faces, humble ourselves, and Lord,
12:34whatever, whatever's going on, let me learn through this. Show me. Use me, God. Remove this junk out of me,
12:40and we're quick to do that. But then when things kind of pan out and things aren't quite as bad as
12:47we thought it was going to be, the murmur and complaining goes back like the children of Israel.
12:51They didn't like the manna from heaven anymore. They didn't like the quail. They didn't like
12:54the pillar that was ahead of them, the fire, the pillar of fire, and all this stuff going on.
13:00They liked it when it first happened. But then things got to normal, and they started murmuring and
13:05complaining again. Let's not be that way. That's the way the world does things. Let's put on our
13:11helmet of salvation and fight against that spirit of the world, the negativity, the murmuring, the
13:18complaining, and let's get our eyes on him. But the only way we can really truly succeed in this is to
13:24put on the helmet of salvation. We really need to put on the whole armor of God, and that's something I
13:28may do a series on with the Unveiled Ministries because I have a whole lesson on it. But right now,
13:33I'm talking about putting on the whole armor of God. So James 4, 7, again, submit to God, resist the
13:41devil, and he will flee. So I'm encouraging all of you as you go out, because some of the states are
13:47starting to open up slowly but surely, use wisdom, and wear the helmet of salvation. Be careful of the
13:54voices around you, and stay in prayer mode. Read the Word. Let the Word be your compass in life,
14:00not the world, not even some spiritual people. Make sure it's aligned, it's in alignment with
14:08the Word of God. All right, ladies, I hope you have a good Friday. It's a beautiful day here.
14:14It's going to be a little bit cooler, so I'm excited about that. And I will see, my husband and I will be
14:20doing a video clip, a Facebook Live, I should say, tomorrow, possibly tonight, but most likely tomorrow.
14:28All right, God bless you all.
