00:00A special NIA court in Delhi extended the custody of Tahavur Hussain Rana, accused of masterminding the 2611 Mumbai terror attacks by 12 more days.
00:11The decision came after an in-camera hearing before Judge Chandajit Singh, following the end of Rana's initial 18-day remand.
00:19The NIA argued that further interrogation was necessary to confront Rana with key evidence and unravel the full conspiracy behind one of India's deadliest terror attacks.
00:31Rana, a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin, was extradited from the United States earlier this month after the US Supreme Court dismissed his plea against extradition.
00:41The NIA alleges that Rana, in close coordination with convicted terrorist David Coleman-Hedley, played a pivotal role in planning not just the Mumbai attacks, but also other plots targeting Indian cities, including New Delhi.
00:54The 2611 Mumbai attacks began on the evening of 26th of November 2008, when 10 terrorists arrived by sea from Karachi.
01:03They unleashed coordinated shootings and bombings across key Mumbai landmarks, including the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and Nariman House.
01:14The seas lasted nearly 60 hours, leaving 166 people dead and over 300 injured.
01:21First shots fired at CST station.
01:29Attacks at Leopold Cafe and Nariman House.
01:35Seizes at Taj and Oberoi hotels began.
01:41Security forces declared the end of the seas.
01:44The attacks shocked the world.
01:47Investigations revealed meticulous planning and international links with David Hedley and Tahavur Rana identified as key conspirators.
01:55According to the NIA, Rana has been evasive during questioning and needs to be confronted with voluminous documents and other evidence.
02:03The agency is also probing his links to other planned attacks and associates in Pakistan.
02:09Rana's defense, meanwhile, claims he is cooperating and has regular access to legal counsel, as mandated by the court.
