Anti-nuclear protesters disrupt Peter Dutton’s media conference

Opposition leader Peter Dutton's been campaigning in southern New South Wales where his first big event was crashed by protesters.

00:00Peter Dutton's campaign was thrown into chaos earlier today when a group of anti-nuclear

00:08protesters gatecrashed an event in the ultra-marginal seat of Gilmore.

00:14The opposition leader was joined by Liberal candidate Andrew Constance.

00:18They were there to make a $3.5 million pledge to build a pavilion at the local reserve in

00:25Sanctuary Point. It is home to a local rugby club and a cricket club there. But the event was

00:31interrupted by the protesters against nuclear power, where he was meant to also hold a press

00:38conference after that announcement. Now, Mr Dutton was instead whisked away. The demonstrators

00:44identified themselves to the media as being from the South Coast Labor Council. The opposition

00:50leader eventually travelled to Mossvale in the Southern Highlands and held a press conference

00:56there. He was asked about the disruption.

01:00In relation to the kids who I think were disappointed to have their event disrupted. It would have

01:05been nice to spend more time with them, but they were greens and teal supporters dressed

01:10up and it was a stunt. So unfortunately the football coaches that we spoke to were really

01:16annoyed actually and upset at the protest has made no difference to me.

01:21So after having to change the plans, Peter Dutton made a stop here in Whitlam as he continues

01:27his blitz in the final days of the campaign.
