00:00This background is so... ugly.
00:03It's not gritty enough, should we?
00:05Oh yeah, sorry.
00:06Should we add a skull?
00:08Just a dead body.
00:10What?!
00:12Aesthetic or aesthetic?
00:14Because there is a niche in that word, but I just don't know where to put it.
00:18So it's just aesthetic.
00:20This is Savannah, Savannah Brown.
00:22Both me and Sav have worked in Lush in the past,
00:25and I get a lot of questions being like,
00:28how did you work at Lush? Do you get the same?
00:30I do, I do. Especially when I first said I was working there.
00:34People were like, you? How did you get a job there?
00:37I think it's important to talk about this because,
00:40although Lush is like super magical and super lovely,
00:44and the company itself as a whole is like...
00:47Very, very nice.
00:48Lovely.
00:49Working there can be interesting.
00:52Interesting.
00:53How did you get a job at Lush?
00:55Basically, I was just shopping there one day,
00:58and I got talking to one of the girls who worked there already,
01:02who I guess just really liked me,
01:04and she said,
01:06are you looking for a job?
01:08And I was like, yeah, sure.
01:09So then she brought the manager out,
01:11and was like...
01:12I know, it was such a weird...
01:13Oh my god, you're so lucky!
01:14I just charm people everywhere I go.
01:16The group interview is the next day,
01:18and he's just like, yeah, come along.
01:19So yes, I went to the group interview.
01:21They took everyone into a room that was too small for 40 people,
01:24and they had little like modules set up, sort of.
01:27They split us into groups,
01:28and then we all went to one of the modules,
01:31and then every like, I think it was like 15 minutes,
01:33we would just go to the next one.
01:35So for me, I went in with like a cover letter,
01:38and like something that's decorated a lot.
01:40I wrote like a poem,
01:41because you're meant to do like really flashy ones,
01:43and they were like,
01:44oh sorry, we don't take cover letters?
01:46This bitch put glitter on her, what the hell?
01:49They were like, but we are having a...
01:51what's it called?
01:52Like a group interview?
01:53Yeah, they just...
01:54I don't really know.
01:55But I guess that's what Lush does.
01:56And we got put into groups of like six,
01:58and then we had to come up with a bath cocktail,
02:01and do a name, and do a little dance and everything.
02:03It was all very fun,
02:04and like I was put in a group with really bossy women who I hated.
02:07But you kind of had to like act like team leader,
02:11because that's what they're looking for.
02:12Yeah, everyone has to act like team leader.
02:14There was this drunk guy outside as well,
02:16so I was like, oh, just letting you guys know,
02:18like to the stuff,
02:19I was like, just letting you guys know,
02:20there's like a drunk guy outside,
02:21I just thought I'd mention that.
02:23They were like, oh, thanks so much.
02:24Just let everyone's safe.
02:25Yeah, yeah.
02:26And they were like, oh, she must be really good.
02:28Anyway, so I heard back and they were like,
02:30you have a trial shift.
02:31Yeah.
02:32So, stage two.
02:33Stage two.
02:34Trial shift.
02:35Trial shift.
02:36You have no idea what you're fucking doing.
02:38Well, they literally just fucking throw you into the shark tank and say,
02:43go swim.
02:44It's ridiculous.
02:45It was busy as hell.
02:47Yeah.
02:48I had my dumb little smock on.
02:49I was like, oh.
02:50There were so many people being like,
02:51excuse me, excuse me,
02:52because obviously like lush people,
02:53you're meant to approach people.
02:54Yeah.
02:55But like they're so used to having people who know like everything.
02:58So like these random strangers were like,
03:00excuse me, sorry,
03:01can you tell me more about this product?
03:02And you're like,
03:03I don't know.
03:04It's good for your hair.
03:06Like I don't know.
03:07My trial shift,
03:08they were like,
03:09and we need you to do at least five group demos.
03:11Yeah.
03:12In the hour that I was.
03:14In the hour that I was like,
03:15you'll learn how to do that later.
03:17Yeah.
03:18But you can't fucking do it on the first day.
03:19Apparently I did it.
03:20I don't remember.
03:21It was all just a blur.
03:22I don't know.
03:23I guess,
03:24come around everyone.
03:25Look at the bath bomb.
03:26If you got a sit down with a customer,
03:29then you were pretty much in.
03:30Yeah.
03:31So I think I managed to get a customer sat down.
03:33Oh, okay.
03:34And I was like,
03:35yes.
03:36See, I was so bad at that.
03:37I can never get a sit down.
03:38Oh my God.
03:39It's so hard.
03:40I felt so uncomfortable about it.
03:41Once we had our trial shift,
03:42I guess we both were like,
03:43yeah, you got the job.
03:44Immediately after the trial shift.
03:45Yeah.
03:46So like the first few weeks were kind of like similar to that,
03:47in which you were just walking around like,
03:48I don't know what I'm doing.
03:49Someone please teach me.
03:50Whenever someone came in,
03:51I had to be like,
03:52oh, hello.
03:53And then they'd go to the back.
03:55I would make eye contact with someone at the back,
03:57and then swap,
03:58and then follow that person around.
04:00What?
04:01Do the little like shushing things,
04:02with the, you know,
04:03screwing on Liz,
04:04trying to get tested,
04:05and then be like,
04:06so how are you doing today?
04:07You can't ask a yes or no question.
04:09No.
04:10No yes or no questions.
04:11It was an open question.
04:12No, no, no.
04:13So like you could pick up something and be like,
04:14do you like the smell of this?
04:15Because I love it.
04:16What brings you to Lush today?
04:17Exactly.
04:18What brings you to Lush today?
04:19I don't know.
04:20When are you looking for anything in between?
04:21God damn.
04:22If I go somewhere,
04:23and someone like comes up to me and pesters me,
04:25I'm like,
04:26I know, I hate it.
04:27So every time I did it,
04:28I was like consciously aware.
04:29I had so many customers being like,
04:31Yeah.
04:32Can you just,
04:33just leave me alone?
04:34Yeah.
04:35And that makes me,
04:36because I totally relate.
04:37Yeah.
04:38I want to be like,
04:39I'm sorry.
04:40They told me to do this.
04:41I'm pretty sure I literally told someone that one time,
04:43because I couldn't take it anymore.
04:44I was like,
04:45they told me to do this.
04:46I'm so sorry.
04:47Hey!
04:48How's it going?
04:51Very good.
04:52Very good.
04:53Guess what we're doing?
04:54Are you filming?
04:55Wow.
04:56You guys are so great.
04:57I love you both so much.
04:58There you go.
04:59That's much cheeriest.
05:00I love you.
05:01You know,
05:02the lights are all on in my room,
05:03but I love it.
05:04I'm so thankful that I can look at my room with a hundred and light on.
05:07What are you guys doing?
05:08Turn it in.
05:09Yeah, apparently.
05:10We're talking about Lush.
05:11Did you ever have the pressure to fill a big basket?
05:14Oh yeah.
05:15That's what they told us.
05:16Average spend,
05:17which was like,
05:18over 14 pounds or something like that.
05:19So you had to make sure that,
05:21like,
05:22five demos would be a bath bomb,
05:24and then you would also grab the rubber rub,
05:26the rose argon,
05:27and that would be three,
05:29and then you'd dry them off with a paper towel,
05:31do maybe a massage bar,
05:33and then a taco powder,
05:34and that would be bam bam bam.
05:36Five demos,
05:37and then my boss would be standing in a corner like,
05:39nodding.
05:40Yes, Dorothy!
05:41You got it!
05:42Product linking!
05:44First product!
05:45We'll go to the rose argon!
05:47Come on, let me know!
05:48Come on everyone!
05:49Smells like rose!
05:50Rose absolute!
05:51Rose absolute!
05:52I just realised that I'm never going to get a drop of Lushkin after this video.
05:55No.
05:56Not that I want one.
05:57But do I want one?
05:58Good.
05:59We mentioned this,
06:00the company is wonderful.
06:01Yeah.
06:02The people who run the company,
06:03it's essentially like a family-run business.
06:06You know,
06:07obviously,
06:08loads of people know this,
06:09but they're ethical about everything.
06:11Obviously,
06:12no animal testing,
06:13do loads of stuff for charity.
06:14Yeah.
06:15Just wonderful, wonderful.
06:16If any employees say,
06:17would you like to buy a charity pot sample for £1?
06:20Do it!
06:21Because it goes to charity,
06:22like it genuinely does.
06:23Other good things.
06:24You smell fucking great all the time.
06:26Like people will hug you and be like,
06:27oh my god,
06:28you smell so good.
06:29Covered in glitter.
06:30Covered in glitter,
06:31which I genuinely liked.
06:32It had like little makeup samples in it all the time.
06:34I burped mid-sentence.
06:35Why is it coming in bubbles?
06:36I don't know.
06:37Is the comforter in there?
06:39I got so many people saying,
06:41it smells like cough syrup.
06:42I'm like,
06:43yeah,
06:44some people say that.
06:45It's not for everyone.
06:46Okay.
06:47Oh my god.
06:48Do you like karma?
06:49You like karma.
06:50Other good things.
06:51Free samples.
06:52Yeah.
06:53And 50% off.
06:54Like your whole bathroom will just be full of black pots
06:57because you'll be using everything.
06:58We'd always play like,
06:59games at like training evenings.
07:01Like it would be like,
07:02pass the carrot bubble bar
07:04and you might win it if you get the thing right.
07:06Like it was always fun.
07:07Yeah.
07:08To be with friends and to talk about stuff you know lots about.
07:11Lemon oil contains enzymes to munch away dead skin cells and oily skin.
07:16Rose helps reduce redness of your skin.
07:18Bad stuff.
07:19I don't know how far I want to go.
07:20I don't know either.
07:21I didn't hate anybody there.
07:24Like it wasn't that sort of thing.
07:26When I said I got hired there,
07:28I got hired there.
07:29I got loads of people asking like,
07:31because people know that I'm quite like introverted and stuff
07:34and that I'm not super like outgoing like that
07:37and that's essentially what you have to do when you work at Lush.
07:40So I had a bunch of people asking like,
07:41how does that work?
07:42Like sort of.
07:43And the truth was it didn't.
07:45No.
07:46It just.
07:47I left every shift.
07:49And this wasn't the fault of Lush.
07:51It wasn't.
07:52It's just the nature of the job.
07:53Of being a sales associate.
07:54That.
07:55A sales associate.
07:56Lush.
07:57That I left every shift exhausted.
08:00Just mentally drained.
08:02Yeah.
08:03Physically drained.
08:04I just.
08:05And it sounds silly but if you.
08:06Oh.
08:07If you are someone who's introverted then you know exactly what I mean.
08:09Oh no.
08:10Exactly.
08:11Like you have to put all of your energy into approaching people.
08:13It's like acting for eight hours straight.
08:15And it's basically like going against all of your natural instincts to say I don't want
08:19to bother anybody.
08:20I'm just going to kind of do my own thing.
08:22And they're telling you go bother everybody.
08:24Yeah.
08:25Go annoy every person that walks into the shop and you're like oh.
08:28Yeah.
08:29Okay.
08:30And it just.
08:31It just.
08:32Exhausts you.
08:33If you're really good at talking to people and if you are very extroverted and you love
08:37striking up a conversation.
08:38Then you'll love it.
08:39You'll be so good at this job.
08:40You'll love it.
08:41Because you have to.
08:42Yeah.
08:43That's how loads like the people that worked there were.
08:44Yeah.
08:45They were just.
08:46They just genuinely enjoyed doing that.
08:47Yeah.
08:48And I wish I was like that.
08:49I wish I could do that but I just.
08:50Yeah no.
08:51Wasn't.
08:52Like as someone who has problems like asking for directions.
08:53Mhm.
08:54Like to do essentially the.
08:56Buy the thing.
08:57Yeah exactly.
08:58Overall.
08:59I liked Lush.
09:01Mhm.
09:02I miss it.
09:03I do.
09:04I really do.
09:05Um.
09:06But it can be difficult.
09:07Especially when asking for time off.
09:08But I would work there again.
09:10Maybe not as like a full time thing.
09:11I.
09:12Wouldn't work there again.
09:13And if you do work there.
09:15And you happen to get 50% off.
09:17Mhm.
09:18Hit me up.
09:19We're your girls.
09:20This is Savannah.
09:21She's really great.
09:22Thanks babe.
09:23Go click on her and.
09:25I hate this.
09:26Like I always do.
09:27I said this in our last video.
09:28You did.
09:29Like this is the worst part of any like content.
09:30Should I hit my head again?
09:31Yeah.
09:32It's just a formula.
09:33It's just a formula.
09:34It's just a candid formula.
09:35Oh we're so silly.
09:36I'm gonna stop it.
09:37Thanks for watching.
09:38Bye.
09:39Bye.
09:40Yeah.
