Trump says US will have 'a fair deal' with China  President Donald Trump told reporters on Wednesday, April 23,  that the US will have a "fair deal" with China, after a source familiar with the matter said the White House is considering lowering tariffs.  The source's comments followed a Wall Street Journal report that the White House is considering cutting its tariffs on Chinese imports in a bid to de-escalate tensions.  China tariffs could come down from their current level of 145% to between 50% and 65%, the paper said, citing a White House official. 00:30We'll be able to lower taxes substantially, and we're going to be proud of ourselves.

00:34They're not going to be a laughingstock that got taken advantage of by virtually every country in the world.

00:41Can you clarify, Mr. President, on China?

00:43Yeah, we are going to have a fair deal with China. It's going to be fair.

00:47Are you talking to them actively now?

00:50Actively. Everything's active.

00:52Everybody wants to be a part of what we're doing.

00:54They know that they can't get away with it any longer,

00:57but they're still going to do fine.

00:59And we're going to have a country that you can be proud of,

01:01not a laughingstock, all over the world for many years.

01:05You know, and —

01:06How does it look in the meantime?

01:07Are you — are you considering —

01:08It looks good. Yeah, no, it looks good.

01:09— while you're negotiating?

01:10It looks good.

01:10We were losing anywhere from three to five billion dollars a day.

01:16Think of it.

01:17We're losing billions of dollars a day under Biden and other presidents, frankly.

01:23But under Biden, it got really worse.

01:25China got out of control.

01:27We're losing a trillion dollars a year.

01:29A trillion — not a billion, not a million, a trillion.

01:32And now we're going to be making money with everyone,

01:35and everyone's going to be happy.

01:36But we're going to be — we're no longer going to be the country

01:39that's ripped off by every country in the world.

02:09we're going to be making money with everyone else a year.

02:14I'm starving to their families, and I'm so glad to be supporting that.
