Rashida Tlaib Accuses GOP Of ‘Gaslighting’ Constituents To Believe Medicaid Won’t Be Touched

During a town hall event on Tuesday, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) slammed the GOP for dismissing concerns over Medicaid cuts.

00:06yesterday we had over 400 people uh show up to our town hall and one of the things that i

00:11explained to folks is you're going to hear a lot of my colleagues say that the 880 billion dollars

00:16i had one colleague literally put it up and go the word medicaid is not in the proposal

00:21yeah it's not in there it's true but energy and commerce committee oversees medicare medicaid

00:33affordable care apps that's where it is there's no way you're going to cut a nearly a trillion

00:39dollars without touching medicaid there's no way know that protect our care national organization

00:46that is fighting on this front is spending 10 million dollars just on educational ads showing

00:52people there's a colleague in california republican colleague 62 percent of his constituents rely on

00:58medicaid so this is this is something that's non-partisan this impacts all of us no matter

01:04your political affiliation next one now this is important why are they doing this other than it's

01:11cool they're doing this because they want to do 4.5 trillion dollars not millions not billions

01:20trillion dollars it's in there not made up i mean this is congressional budget all everybody will show

01:42the top tax plan from before the proposal from before this is what they want to expand on this is

01:48currently look at this they pay nothing no how many of you all pay federal tax well really how many all

01:55of us we pay some sort of they pay no federal income tax none of these folks while bt increases our

02:01rates you know yeah i know next slide up it keeps going y'all it doesn't stop 25 corporations
