Landmark Nepal survey estimates nearly 400 elusive snow leopards  Nepal's first nationwide survey of the threatened snow leopard estimates that there are nearly 400 of the elusive big cats in the Himalayan nation. The animals were tracked monitored motion-sensor camera and genetic analysis in seven key areas.  "We are the second smallest country in terms of snow leopard habitat size after Bhutan, (but) we hold the fourth largest population," Ghana S Gurung, country representative of WWF Nepal, told AFP. 00:00We are very happy because Nepal actually has only 2% of the size of the snow leopard habitats globally.

00:29And we host the 10% of the total population estimated.

00:35And more importantly that we are the second largest, smallest country in terms of the snow leopard habitat size after Bhutan.

00:44What is the number?

00:45So basically the range that we talked about in the early days in estimation, we are at the upper end of it.

00:51So that means this number is really good.

00:53But now onwards we can actually compare because this number has come out with robust scientific research methods.
