00:16you so much for checking in well thank you so much good morning architecture on that zoom call

00:22you must be in tusc tuscany now i'm in my house in tuscany yes it's my pillar yeah yeah very very

00:28nice tears on my pillar we're very happy to see you sting for two shows by the way you're going to

00:33be an ac on labor day weekend doing your my songs tour at the hard rock in the marketis arena we're

00:39excited about that but i'm really pumped about the one fine day festival with you and shaggy at the

00:44man on saturday september 9th now this is first of all it's the only time we're going to see you two

00:49guys together this year and you chose philly as the one-off show we're so proud you know shaggy and i

00:56both have very very strong support in the city and we thought the two of us together would be a

01:01slam dunk so we put together this amazing bill we got thundercat we got coffee we got tank and the

01:08bangers and we got philly's g love and special so i i think we've got a winner here i really do and

01:15you handpicked these uh these acts yourself right we curated it and not only that we're going to

01:21introduce everybody so it's not like we're going to be backstage drinking champagne we're going to

01:26be on stage most of the time and no doubt shaggy will be doing stuff from comply with me i can't

01:32wait to hear that i think we'll do a couple yeah definitely i mean i think he did a great job he

01:37really did that was my idea but he he pulled it off so i'm very proud of him has a couple tickets left

01:43if you want to go see this wonderful show at ticketmaster.com and is there any plan or is it

01:49too early to ask to expand this to other cities what why let's just stay in philly you know let's

01:55do another next year i mean i like the sound of that sting that's great uh do you remember um

02:03exactly where you were the moment you found out that uh every breath you take surpassed you've lost

02:08that love and feeling in radio airplay i think i was i was back home and uh you know you've lost

02:15that love and feeling was one of my favorite songs as a kid the idea that i could write something that

02:20would surpass that i still can't get my head around it i really can't it's it's it's breathtaking

02:25were you keeping track along the way going boy i'm number two i'm down by 80 000 now 70

02:30you know something i was i was we were creeping i'm very competitive as you probably know

02:36we were creeping up on it and then we're still up there uh no question about it now we just passed

02:43the uh here in this town we passed the 40th anniversary of one of the wildest shows this

02:48sound uh this town ever saw at jfk stadium the old decrepit place in south philly was the police

02:55joan jen the black hearts madness and rem playing in front of 100 000 people it was 98 degrees in fact

03:02i just heard the bootleg online where you go it's 98 degrees it's the temperature of blood

03:08any recollection that you would just uh figured out a couple days prior you were leaving the band so

03:16maybe there were some pretty fresh memories there uh you know i mean i remember it being very very

03:21very hot and that was the first uh leg of that was the first gig on that tour and after that i was

03:28gone but anyway yeah i loved it absolutely great i can't believe sting is our guest our very special

03:35guest here one of 2.9 mgk you know i'm i'm a i'm a tattered old dj of 46 years but you still get

03:41excited talking to your heroes and this is certainly a bucket list for me and you're going to get to see

03:44a great show on september 9th saturday it's the one fine day festival and it is one fine day two

03:51stages at the man get your tickets to ticketmaster sting is there shaggy is there g love thundercat

03:57it's a marvelous marvelous lineup sting i gotta ask you i i realized the police were very handy in the

04:04recording studio there's not a lot of stuff out there but is there any chance we'll get expanded

04:09versions of your five albums like everyone else seems to be doing outtakes alternate mixes anything

04:14like that fans like me are clamoring for something i think there's a 40th anniversary of uh

04:21synchronicity coming up which does have some extra stuff on it really yes it does all right that's like

04:27my my demos i think are being included well that's what i was going to ask you about demos because

04:32there should be a bunch of demos from outlandos to more that would be so great on a box set man oh

04:37i couldn't afford a tape recorder at that at that point but by the time you made synchronicity yeah i

04:43was doing pretty sophisticated demos that's right uh by the way uh sting my condolences to you and uh

04:50and in the entire a&m family on the passing of uh of jerry moss uh just a true legend and a giant in

04:56the music business and you guys met him you were at the sunset marquee when you first sunset marquee in

05:021978 uh i was by the pool i'd never seen a palm tree in my life and in walks this very very patrician

05:09good-looking businessman jerry moss shook my hand and he was a gentleman then and remained a gentleman

05:17to the end of his life i was lucky enough to see him a month before he he passed he came to one of my

05:22shows in england and uh surprised to see him but uh a unique individual really unique who named a

05:30horse after a police album zenyatta by the way you hear that zenyatta just entered into uh retirement

05:35no more she's done as a broodmare i think uh as soon as they won the race that went into stud but

05:41more importantly my son jackamo the he named a horse after him it won the kentucky derby at 80 to 1

05:48my wife put uh some money on it we're still living off it so fantastic man oh man that was an exciting

05:56moment for sure i can't believe it what what what separated jerry moss from from all these other

06:01records he wasn't a typical record exec right i mean no his success was based upon his his being a

06:07gentleman being a nice guy being uh attendant to artist's needs and art generally he wasn't like a

06:17wheeler dealer sharp practice guy at all so his success came from those very humane qualities as a

06:24man and uh all of us at a&m appreciated that that that's the success of the company and he was so

06:30smart enough to leave you art at salone when you're making your work yeah but he could you know he could

06:36sit on his desk he was mr m as herb albert was mr a it wasn't some faceless uh corporation it was

06:43actually human beings outstanding what a pleasure it is to have sting my very special guest here on

06:49classic rock 102.9 mgk looking forward to seeing him two times coming to our area be down in ac on

06:55september 3rd hard rock ac on his my songs tour and then again at the man with shaggy for the one day

07:02festival on saturday september 9th there's some tickets available on that at ticketmaster.com so what

07:07are you doing between ac and philly gonna hang out in philly or what are your plans well you know i'm here

07:12in tuscany at the moment getting the the rays it's pretty hot here and then i uh i've got a show in

07:18washington dc and then i'm coming into philly so i was gonna stay for a couple of days yes

07:24tuscany is on my bucket list of course to visit one day uh when's the best time to go aside from when

07:30you're not there uh i would i would come in october when it's a little cooler or spring april it's too

07:37hot at the moment right and us americans it's hard you can't get air conditioning very well over

07:42there right what's what's air conditioning explain that to me exactly oh what a joy it is thank you

07:49so much for your time sting it's an honor and a pleasure uh from the very first moment i stole

07:53the backup copy of outlandos demore from the radio station in trenton and fell in love with your band

07:58i have loved everything you've ever made and it's an honor and pleasure to have you here on 102.9 mgk we
