Opportunity Teams Splits

00:00Hi, in this video we are going to go over how you can add other team members to an opportunity or a deal that you are working on and collaborate with them on it.
00:15So this basically allows you to not only collaborate with them, but also split any revenue if there is a scenario like that between the two of you accordingly.
00:27So let's see how we can do that in Salesforce.
00:31Right now I am within an opportunity record.
00:35I've just created it with some basic information and it's still in the first stage.
00:42So as I'm now working on it, I can choose to take some actions on it and so forth.
00:49So if you look at the sub tabs within the record page of an opportunity, you'll notice that you're initially by default are at the detail sub tab.
00:59However, the next tab over is called opportunity team and splits.
01:05When you click into that, you will see by default the opportunity owner or whoever's created it is automatically added to the opportunity team as well as the split.
01:17So this is probably going to be what's true for most cases, but let's just say now Julie is going to collaborate with someone else who has maybe worked on this before or has some other contact with the client.
01:33So we're going to add the other member as well to this team.
01:39So in order to do that, we have to find the button add opportunity team members on the right side.
01:46We click on it and then it pulls up a screen like this.
01:50First thing we have to do is select the role for the person.
01:54Let's just say I'm going to be working with another AE from my market and that is Jennifer in this case.
02:03Finally, we can also define the type of access the second person will have.
02:09If it's only read only or they can also edit the opportunity as well as view it.
02:16So I'm going to choose read write and click save.
02:20But just know that you can also add as many people as you want to this team and definitely more than one should there be a scenario like that.
02:31So we click save and now Jennifer has been added to the opportunity team.
02:37Now let's look at the second tab opportunity splits.
02:41If we want to split the revenue between the members of this current team, then we can edit the splits.
02:50However, if there is no need to do that, we leave it as it is.
02:54But just a note on opportunity splits.
02:57One thing to keep in mind is that if you do want to add someone to the splits,
03:04they have to be first added to the opportunity team.
03:07So if I didn't add Jennifer to the opportunity team first, I would not be able to add her to the splits.
03:16So let's say for this example, we're also going to split the revenue between the two of us.
03:25So the opportunity owner creator is already added there.
03:29I'm just going to look up Jennifer.
03:34And then add a percentage.
03:37Maybe she gets 25%.
03:40And you can see that the total percentage is over 100%.
03:44So it won't allow me to save the record.
03:47But I already know that because I am yet to edit Julie's.
03:51So once I add up to 100%, gets rid of that red whining sign.
03:58And I don't have to do anything with the amount.
04:01Whatever projections I do add will be automatically sort of divided between the two.
04:08So at this point, I'm going to simply click save.
04:12And done.
04:14So you can see my split percentages have been added.
04:18Moving on to the next step projections.
04:22Let's just add a projection and see how it looks.
04:27The end result of adding members to an opportunity team.
04:31So I've already gone over how to add projections in a previous video.
04:36So we'll not focus too much on this.
04:38So I'm just going to add in some numbers and add an inventory as well.
04:46Click save.
04:48As soon as I add a projection, I can go on to the next tab projected revenue.
04:54And see how the amounts have been divvied up across the months.
05:01So initially in the revenue tab, I can see since I selected the quarter,
05:08the revenue has been allocated for each month appropriately.
05:12However, there is another tab at the bottom called revenue split.
05:18And this is basically going to do a further breakdown of the amounts per month for each member of the opportunity team.
05:28So it's going to be split in this case for each month, but also for Jennifer and Julie.
05:35Keep in mind that this is a custom item that we have built.
05:40So it does not sometimes launch automatically.
05:44However, a couple of quick refreshes does the trick.
05:49And there you go.
05:53So you now see that not only have I split the revenue and proportioned it according to each month over the period of which it runs,
06:04but also across each rep.
06:07So for each month, I have Julie's and Jennifer's.
06:12Now you can also add a projection and then go back and edit the opportunity team, add someone, remove someone and the projections and the projected revenue will get updated accordingly.
06:27So in this example, I have first added someone to the team and then added the projections, but you can do it the other way around as well.
06:35And the projected revenue will be recalculated accordingly.
06:40Thank you so much.
06:41Hope that was helpful.
06:42Hope that was helpful.
06:57Bye.
06:58Bye.
