00:06today's most successful privately held radio broadcasting companies in America, greater

00:13Little did Peter Bortis and Joseph Rosenmiller know that when they purchased their very first
00:18radio station, WESOAM, back in 1956 for $50,000 in Southbridge, Massachusetts, their vision
00:26would grow to eventually include 21 stations, a group of weekly newspapers in New Jersey,
00:31and several telecommunications towers across the country.
00:35Despite the many economic and industry changes that have taken place over the past six decades,
00:40greater media has remained unwavered in protecting the integrity for which it stands for today.
00:46Chairman and CEO Peter Smythe, who's been with the company for 30 years, knows this all too well.
00:52Thirty years, every time I think of it, it amazes me.
00:55But I did have the great fortune of working closely with Peter Bortis for several years.
01:00He was a remarkable man, a visionary, and instilled in me the entrepreneurial spirit that he wanted
01:05to continue to go throughout the company.
01:08And I'm honored that the Bortis family gave me the opportunity to do that.
01:12We do many great things, and the people, the products, and the integrity of this community
01:19and that this company was foremost in his mind every day that I dealt with him.
01:23So to everybody, 60 years, congratulations to the men and women that have made Greater Media
01:29the great company it is today.
01:33What makes Greater Media greater?
01:35I've been at Greater Media for almost 23 years, so for me, it's definitely the family atmosphere.
01:41All my co-workers, we're like a small family here.
01:45I think the passion of our employees is really what makes Greater Media greater.
01:48The best thing about working for a family-owned company is the opportunity to create great
01:53local radio.
01:54What I love about working at this company is the people.
01:57Before I came here, I always heard they were the greatest people in the market to work with,
02:00and I got here, and I found out they're actually the greatest people on earth to work with.
02:04What's next for Greater Media?
02:06I think the future holds great things for Greater Media.
02:08It is one of the most remarkable, resilient broadcasting companies in America today.
02:13And I think the men and women should be proud of what they built and look towards the future,
