00:00It was really important on Saturday in that emergency sitting of Parliament that we took control of the company
00:08to ensure that we could bring in the raw materials to keep the blast furnaces running.
00:13And I've had the opportunity to talk to the British management team, workers and the three different trade unions represented here
00:20to talk about the future. We now have that control, we're bringing in those raw materials
00:25and I am certain and the workers and the management team are certain that there is a bright future for the steelworks here in Scunthorpe
00:33and the whole community and we're determined to do what it takes to protect British industry, protect British jobs
00:39and do more to buy, make and sell more here in Britain.
00:42At the moment we have control of the company, there is no time limit on that
00:47so we are able now to act as the management team, work with the management team here.
00:54Nothing is off the table. We did previously try to negotiate with the owner, that was not successful.
01:01It would have been throwing good money after bad. It was the right thing to do, to take control of this company
01:07and nothing now is off the table as we look for a new future, not with the previous owners
01:13but a new future with new investment here in Scunthorpe and of course government are going to play a big role in that.
