00:00The astronauts aboard the International Space Station are in low earth orbit as part of their
00:07job, performing experiments to better mankind. But astronauts are people too, and throughout
00:12the years over 280 of them from 20 countries have visited the aged ISS and captured incredible images
00:18of daily life in microgravity. Astronauts who travel up there usually take on missions ranging
00:24from six months to a year. That means living in what is essentially a six bedroom house for the
00:28duration and eating crumb free space food. They also survive on water that is 98% recycled sweat,
00:34breath and urine. During their stay, astronauts must maintain a healthy exercise regimen to prevent
00:40bone loss from weightlessness. They must also bathe without a shower and brush their teeth with edible
00:44toothpaste. And because there aren't washing machines aboard the ISS, clothes are typically
00:49worn for several days until they are disposed of. Still, astronauts say they get used to life without
00:54the creature comforts of Earth. Though with 16 sunrises every day, getting some shut-eye aboard
00:59the International Space Station is something they say can be tricky.
