Ce documentaire raconte l'histoire du Harlem Cultural Festival qui s'est tenu à New York en 1969 en parallèle du festival de Woodstock et dont personne n'a jamais entendu parler. Le festival avait pourtant réuni 300.000 personnes pour une série de concerts donnés par des artistes majeurs comme Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, B.B. King ou encore Sly and the Family Stone.
