00:00For the estimated 1,200,000 in the Philippine diaspora scattered in 77 nations on the planet who are eligible to exercise their suffrage,

00:10their enthusiasm and excitement to have their voices heard via the ballot box is soon to bear fruit in three days.

00:17Our Luisa Erispe tells us more on the details of online voting for migrant workers or dual citizens based abroad.

00:26Everything is now all set for the start of the voting period.

00:29For overseas Filipinos on April 13 or on Sunday, with just three days before they cast their votes,

00:35Commission on Elections said the overseas voting and counting system is ready for the first ever internet voting of Filipinos abroad.

00:43As a matter of fact, there are 36,000 who already enrolled in their system.

00:4836,000 na ang nagpapa-enroll ng mga kapabayan natin.

00:52At tayo kita natin habang papalapit, medyo tumataas ang bilang na nagpapa-enroll.

00:57In total, there are 1.2 million Filipinos abroad who are registered voters.

01:02While there are 77 countries that will be doing internet voting,

01:06and Filipinos in 16 nations will still participate via postal or snail mail voting.

01:12Nakamalik said, even for those who decide to cast their votes via email or through messaging posts,

01:17automated counting machines are already on standby.

01:35For some Filipinos who have yet to enroll for the online voting system,

01:40Kamalik said, it is ready in case most of them go straight to embassies or consulates abroad to vote in person.

01:46There are kiosks for them to cast their votes as long as they bring their passports and IDs

01:50and show they are active registered voters.

01:53Kung gusto nilang tumalo din sa embahada, meron silang ipaprocess ng mga dokumento sa embahada,

01:59may pasweldo na lang din sila bumoto sa ating mga kiyos na naandyan.

02:03Bagamat, hindi natin in-expect na ganoon sila kadami ngayon.

02:07Hindi katulad nung ang paraan lang ng pag-voto natin ay sa pamamagitan ng in-person.

02:14The Paul body expects that with the advent of Holy Week,

02:17there may be more hacking attempts on their website and on the online voting system,

02:21given that recently, they monitored a million attempts on their site and 60,000 on the OVCS.

02:27Still, they will be on 24-7 monitoring even on holidays.

02:45The voting period for overseas Filipinos will end on May 12,

02:51Kamalak will still accept enrollees or registrants for internet voting until May 7.
