00:00House and to revise my remarks. Without objection a general woman from New
00:04Mexico is recognized for one minute. Mr. Speaker I rise tonight to say to our
00:09president and to his administration hands off our education hands off our
00:16teachers hands off our students and hands off our schools because last week
00:22the Department of Education sent a letter to thousands of public schools
00:27across the country asking them to certify that they would end programs
00:31promoting diversity equity inclusion and accessibility or they would have their
00:37federal funding cut. Let us be clear this is a direct attack on our communities on
00:43whose histories whose cultures and whose languages and whose communities count.
00:50Last week we met with the Secretary of Education and hand-delivered a letter
00:54calling on the administration to end these attacks on our schools on our
01:00communities and on tribal communities and our education system. We will continue
01:07to fight back because we cannot stand with a country that is attacking our
01:12students. So Mr. Speaker I say to our president hands off our schools hands off
01:18our students and hands. The gentlewoman is no longer recognized.
01:23We will continue to fight back and we will not. Back down.
01:26We will back.
