00:08In 2024, the average hourly labor costs in the EU were estimated to be 33.50 euros,

00:16up on 2023's rate of 31.90 euros. The lowest hourly labor costs were recorded in Bulgaria

00:23at 10.60 euros, Romania at 12.50 euros and Hungary at 14.10 euros. By contrast,

00:32the highest is found in Luxembourg at 55.20 euros, Denmark at 50.10 euros and Belgium at

00:4148.20 euros. The two main components of labor costs are wages and non-wage costs,

00:48such as employers' social contributions. The share of non-wage costs in the whole EU economy

00:54was 24.7%. In the EU, labor costs per hour were the highest in the mainly known business economy,

01:01excluding public administration at 34.20 euros and the lowest in the construction sector at 30

01:10euros. Between 2023 and 2024, hourly labor costs in the whole economy rose by 5% in the EU

01:17and by 4.5% in the euro area. The highest increases in the euro area were seen in Croatia

01:24at 14.2% and Latvia at 12.1%.
