00:00which would also address their challenge.
00:03So today we take an important step towards a sustainable and integrated solution,
00:09not just to waste, not just to power, if I may add the shade, to water security.
00:15We know that Iloilo City is underserved by water distribution system and by the sourcing system as well.
00:23So we're very glad that this comprehensive and integrated solution has been devised
00:28to address three major issues for the city.
00:32With the capacity to process 475 of the 500 tons of municipal waste per day,
00:39the Iloilo City integrated waste management facility will not only reduce landfill dependence,
00:46but will generate our 3.5 megawatts of renewable energy
00:51and we understand take on about 35% of the energy needs of the desalination facility.
00:58We commend this particular integration and comprehensive solution.
01:04This plan is capable of benefiting the desalination,
01:09plan is capable of benefiting over 400,000 residents and businesses in the city.
01:17So this is the sort of innovation that we are looking for hopefully to be coupled with social innovation
01:24that addresses both the informal and formal waste worker sector in the country.
01:31The project represents the transformation of our waste management system
01:36from one based on disposal to one that emphasizes recovery,
01:41energy efficiency and generation, industrial decarbonization and water security.
01:47So this is crucial as it provides, as I said, a comprehensive solution
01:53that allows us to maximize resource use while minimizing environmental impact.
01:59It provides us with a model for comprehensive integrated environmental,
02:05water and energy solutions nationwide.
02:09The first of its kind is being piloted here in the city.
02:14So the DNR fully supports this initiative and remains committed to advancing policies and programs
02:20that promote sustainable waste management and the circular economy.
02:25But for this facility to truly succeed, as I mentioned earlier...
