00:08You just simply have a flick of the wrist, a proper semicircle.

00:21Cartooning meant more to me than just funny pictures.

00:27I really thought if I ever learned to draw properly, I would try to change the world for the better.

00:41This guy, Ralph Steadman, was a very evil-minded, twisty kind of guy.

00:45My idea of humor was that it would be slightly maniacal.

00:49I wanted to get it out of my system. It was something that was just waiting to erupt.

00:53I need a couple of drinks, actually, to start on this. Really do.

00:56On my first visit to America, I met up with Hunter S. Thompson.

01:01When Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas came in, I think people were stunned by it.

01:04It was so funny and dangerous and wild.

01:07Ralph was willing to go to extremes that Hunter was not willing to.

01:10Hunter realized that Ralph was crazier than him.

01:15It was the essence of my work to distort and yet maintain the likeness.

01:20The energy, the anger, the venom, it was just spewed out.

01:24And that's what I loved.

01:25It's what we're thinking at the back of our heads but aren't capable of getting it out.

01:30Good Ralph was a person. Never met a warmer, generous.

01:34He's not his paintings.

01:39If you surprise yourself still, really, you can have a good trip.

01:43It's a good way to do stuff, for no good reason.
