00:00It begins in London, not so very long ago, and yet so much has happened since then that it seems more like an eternity.

00:09At that time, I lived with my pet in a bachelor flat just off Regent's Park.

00:16It was a beautiful spring day, tedious time of the year for bachelors.

00:22Oh, that's my pet, Roger, Roger Radcliffe, a musician of sorts.

00:27No, no, I'm the one with the spots. My name's Pongo.

00:33And you know, as far as I could see, the old notion that a bachelor's life was so glamorous and carefree was all nonsense.

00:44It was plain to see that my old pet needed someone.
