00:00That is true, that a few of the characters that I've done that have been pieces of me in it.

00:05But in every film that I do, I do try to bring a little bit of myself.

00:10But that doesn't mean I'm playing myself on screen.

00:13So even in this, I try to channel that raw, nervous energy of an upcoming lawyer

00:19because she is the only female lawyer among so many men.

00:22So that power that she got from within while she was fighting that case,

00:26I try to channel a bit of that from my own experience of starting out working when I was 18.

00:31There were not that many women on set when we started.

00:34Now, of course, there are so many women.

00:35So I did try to take a little bit of my life from that.

00:38But yes, it was very different from anything that I've done before.

00:41And I worked a lot with Karan. I had to learn Punjabi for the film.

00:45And yeah, I learned because he's a lawyer himself.

00:47So just the legalities, how to speak in court, a lot of posturing, how to stand.

00:52So yeah, a lot of prep went into that.

00:55My memory is also from the same book.

00:57I also studied history in school.

00:59But like Akshisa said, I got very limited knowledge in school.

01:03General Dyer fired approximately this many people.

01:08But I didn't know the exact details.

01:11I heard a lot of stories from my great-grandmother.

01:14Along with Jallianwada Bagh, I heard a lot of stories about partition.

01:19Because my grandfather was separated from his father in the partition.

01:24So my mom's family, they're all from Punjab as well.

01:27So I've heard a lot of stories.

01:29But actually, I got to know a lot from the script.

01:33What exactly happened.

01:34I remember when the narration happened, I was constantly asking,

01:37Has this actually happened? Did this really happen?

01:40So many people. And then they did this.

01:43I was shocked that so much has happened and we don't even know 1%.

01:47So thanks to the book and thanks to the script, I got to learn a lot.

01:50And I hope that people watch this movie and they learn as well.
