Are you able to verify whether Cam Neilley was an extra in The Outsiders or not?
00:05
I think Wiggy brought that up yesterday.
00:08
No, but I mean, it'd be easy enough to verify.
00:10
I mean, I could just call him and ask.
00:12
Yeah, can you do that?
00:13
Can you text him while we are talking right now, please?
00:17
I don't know.
00:17
That might be difficult for me.
00:20
Because it's all over social media that he was an extra in The Outsiders.
00:26
One of my favorite movies of all time.
00:28
And I went through the different scenes with the Soch.
00:31
And he couldn't find him.
00:32
And I'm trying to.
00:33
But then again, he's 18 years old.
00:35
So maybe he looks a lot different.
00:36
He's Soch number two, I believe.
00:38
Yeah, yeah.
00:38
But you don't know who's Soch.
00:40
Yeah, I don't think that's legit.
00:43
But there's an article about him talking about how he was into acting.
00:47
Well, but that's because of Dumb and Dumber, not because of The Outsiders.
00:52
Well, you say Mighty Ducks was important to him.
00:56
He said that?
00:57
Yeah.
00:57
He was in The Mighty Ducks, too?
00:58
Or what?
00:59
No, he wasn't in Mighty Ducks.
01:00
Are you sure?
01:01
I think he was.
01:02
I think he was.
01:03
Yeah.
01:04
The second Mighty Ducks.
01:05
Oh, maybe he was.
01:06
Maybe I stand corrected on that.
01:08
That's why we need to get Cam.
01:09
Because if he was in The Outsiders, that's a classic cast right there.
01:13
Yeah, his IMDb has him, Dumb and Dumber, me, myself, and Irene,
01:17
the Mighty Ducks D2, stuck on you.
01:20
Yeah.
01:22
All right.
01:22
Well, listen, just on The Bruins.
01:24
There's a couple other topics I have ready to go.
01:27
They're limping to a finish here, which I think we all gave up on a while ago.
01:35
But a very important offseason, I would say, for Don Sweeney.
01:41
I mean, we're talking about Cam.
01:42
I think Cam is not going anywhere.
01:45
But an important offseason for Don Sweeney.
01:50
Well, from everybody's standpoint, it's an important offseason.
01:54
I mean, they have to.
01:55
They've got some people they need to sign.
01:57
Somebody like Geeky looks like he's worth signing.
01:59
They need to straighten out Swayman, who played actually pretty well.
02:03
No, very well against Washington, despite the fact that they lost.
02:07
They've got to straighten out Lindholm and McAvoy.
02:11
Get them on the right track.
02:12
But obviously, what they need is talent.
02:14
And their talent is mostly, you know, naked in the center of the ice,
02:18
which is the most important offensive position.
02:21
So yes, it's a critical.
02:23
And you're not going to find the answers for this upcoming season in the draft.
02:28
It's just not going to happen.
02:29
I mean, it would take a stroke of genius or great luck to find somebody
02:34
that's going to step into the top six and be effective in his first season.
02:38
It's just it's very unlikely.
02:40
So free agency and, you know, more money to spend.
02:44
The cap's up.
02:45
So let's see what they can do.
02:47
I don't even know who right now.
02:48
I don't know who's going to be available.
02:50
Teams will be scrambling to complete contracts before free agent free agency comes around,
02:56
but they need to do some good business because they are they are riddled with holes.
03:01
Mike, I think the most obviously it seems like the most important piece
03:04
in the first thing on the menu will be the direction of the new head coach.
03:09
Like what what direction do you think they go in?
03:13
Do you who would you go after if you were in Cameron Sweeney's position?
03:20
So I think that's probably the most important piece first, right?
03:23
Well, the talent wins.
03:26
You know, that talent is the first thing that you have to address.
03:28
And, you know, you need a guy now that looks like you're dialing back the age of this team.
03:34
So you're going to need a teacher.
03:35
You're going to need a disciplinarian.
03:37
You're also in this day and age.
03:39
You need a good communicator.
03:40
You can't just beat them to death.
03:42
You have to be able to relate to them.
03:45
And that's a lot to ask of a coach.
03:47
And I'm going to guess that you're going to find a name that you probably
03:53
haven't heard of before.
03:54
Somebody that's younger, somebody that's newer to the game.
03:57
And look at what this guy's done in Washington.
04:00
He's been he's been terrific.
04:02
And their team's turned around.
04:03
And I think what they do need to do is get younger.
04:06
And with a younger personnel approach,
04:08
they're going to need a younger coach behind the bench.
04:11
They kind of have to stick with him.
04:13
But any thought about Jeremy Swayman and what he ends up being next season?
04:19
And is there I don't know that anybody would take him at that number.
04:23
But I mean, is do you have to consider trading Jeremy Swayman?
04:28
I'm not considering it now, but I certainly want him to just stop the puck and shut up.
04:35
I mean, really, do I have to listen to him talk about these,
04:39
you know, platitudes after every game?
04:41
I mean, you lost nine straight.
04:43
I mean, just be humble, you know, go back to work and see what you can do.
04:48
But, you know, I bleed black and blue and all this kind of malarkey.
04:52
Like, can you just can you just be part of the picture, not just the center of it?
04:56
So he's got some growing up to do.
04:59
But when he's on, he's a hell of a goaltender.
05:01
I mean, when I hear Swayman start talking about Mangione laws in California,
05:06
when I just want to talk hockey.
05:07
In all sincerity, Mike, why do we believe that Don Sweeney, who fired Cassidy,
05:14
who went on to win a cup and Monty, who went on to have one of the better
05:19
second halves in all the NHL, is the right guy to hire the next coach?
05:24
I guess based on, you know, a long history here,
05:27
they've had some good runs that been mostly successful during his tenure.
05:32
But it does seem a little odd that both of those guys have been able to
05:36
turn around different franchises after the move.
05:39
I mean, sometimes you just don't know when is the right time to fire a coach,
05:43
but it's mostly feel.
05:46
It's relationships between the players and the coach.
05:48
And clearly, when Montgomery was here, things weren't going well.
05:51
A little different story with Cassidy.
05:53
I think the team was in pretty good shape, but I think they needed to
05:56
maybe grow up a little too because he was being a little too firm.
06:00
But, you know, that's history.
06:02
But it's a good question.
06:04
Mike Milbury, a texter wants to know what you think of Jay Pandolfo,
06:08
who is coaching at BU right now.
06:10
Would that be somebody you'd be interested in?
06:12
Boy, he had a hell of a career in New Jersey.
06:16
He was a reliable player, intelligent player,
06:20
you know, not overwhelmingly gifted player.
06:23
But, you know, he was he put a long, strong career.
06:26
And obviously, here's a guy that got his team in the final four.
06:30
And you'd have to consider him.
06:33
I mean, I think there's reason to consider a guy like that.
06:36
He kind of fits the profile of what I was just talking about, correct?
06:39
You know, he's a younger guy, responsible when he played as a defender and knows
06:46
the game intimately and obviously can work with young players.
06:48
So, yeah, he'd be on my radar.
06:51
Mike, you bring up Montgomery and the firing of him, but they were eight,
06:54
nine and three when they did fire him at the beginning of the season.
06:58
And he led this team on a historic run just a year ago.
07:01
So was that a mistake?
07:03
In hindsight, when you look at the derailment of the season,
07:06
was that did they actually shoot themselves in the foot?
07:10
I it didn't work.
07:13
I can put I can put that in perspective.
07:16
It just didn't work.
07:17
I mean, you're right.
07:18
They weren't playing very well.
07:19
And it looked like they were discombobulated.
07:22
They were out of sync.
07:22
They weren't playing with any kind of rhythm offensively in their structure.
07:27
Defensively had had been lost.
07:29
And rather than waste the season, they decided to make a move.
07:33
Now, it didn't work.
07:35
It didn't turn it around.
07:36
And and there were lots of other factors involved,
07:39
losing key players for for pretty good stretches of time.
07:42
But, you know, I don't know how to gauge that, except that now it looks
07:47
it looks bad for Sweeney.
07:48
It looks it looks tough on him.
07:50
And but and I feel bad for Joe Sacco because he was given an impossible task.
07:55
And he's probably not going to get an opportunity to do the job going forward.
07:59
But c'est la vie.
08:01
These are tough decisions that guys make.
08:03
But you make them sort of in the spur of the moment.
08:05
And you try to do the best for what's going forward for your team.
08:10
And sometimes you win.
08:11
Sometimes you lose.
08:12
And sometimes you make a good one.
08:13
And sometimes you make a bad one.
08:14
He's made some tough ones lately, Don Sweeney.
08:17
But his history says that he's he knows what he's doing.
08:20
But will they give him that opportunity?
08:22
I don't know.
08:23
I believe Scheim has one for you as he prepares his NHL draft lottery mock.
08:29
No, no, no, no NHL mock drafts, Greg.
08:32
But Mike, on a non Bruins related note, are you excited to watch Alex Ovechkin
08:36
over the next couple of games, try and break that Gretzky record?
08:39
You know, I am.
08:40
He's he's really put in a great body of work.
08:45
I mean, he's I remember scouting him when he was in just a junior.
08:49
And, you know, they won the lottery to get that pick.
08:52
And it was what a bonanza for them.
08:56
But it took a while for him to figure it out.
08:58
Not just the fact that he could stand in the face off dot and fire
09:01
wicked slap shots.
09:03
And, you know, I come to admire him for rounding out his game.
09:09
But clearly, you know, nobody thought anybody was going to reach the total
09:13
that Gretzky has.
09:14
And he's just plowed forward.
09:16
His tenacity and determination has been admirable.
09:19
So, yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to it.
09:21
Looking forward to it more than the colonoscopy I'm having tomorrow.
09:25
That's important, though.
09:28
Is he the best player of this generation, Mike?
09:30
Or is it still like Sidney Crosby?
09:33
You know what?
09:34
I'm always partial to the guys that are two way.
09:36
And he's much better two way player than he was when he broke in.
09:41
But I'd still stick with Crosby.
09:43
I mean, he's he's he's really he's got it all down.
09:48
So that's my answer to that.
09:49
But there's nothing wrong with going with a guy that does what you want to do to win
09:53
the game, which is score goals.
09:54
And he scored a ton of them.
09:56
Mike, bigger ick as a guy owning or having a cat and being single or rushing off an airplane
10:03
when you land.
10:06
Wait, one more time.
10:07
So if you're a single guy and you have a cat or.
10:10
Well, first of all, that's a mistake, right?
10:13
Or a single guy has a cat.
10:14
What the hell are you doing?
10:16
I don't know.
10:17
Go to a strip joint or something.
10:18
Forget the cat.
10:19
Cutting the cat.
10:20
Jesus Christ.
10:21
He got his eye on the wrong cat.
10:23
Oh, my God.
10:24
Exactly.
10:27
I think you gave us the answer.
10:28
Perfect.
10:29
One of your I'm I'm getting text messages from apparently one of your political opponents
10:35
who listens to the show.
10:37
And it's Brad from Newton.
10:41
And he says that he's afraid they're going to find your head when they do the colonoscopy
10:45
tomorrow.
10:45
So just that's funny, Brad.
10:50
Is he working still?
10:52
I don't know.
10:53
All right.
10:53
Well, we're going to see you.
10:54
You're going to be behind the bar on June 26 for the pregame at your sister's restaurant,
11:00
right?
11:01
I will.
11:01
We'll have fun.
11:02
I guarantee it.
11:04
There he is.
11:05
