Getting each row perfectly even, especially the first row, is essential with Vinyl Plank. Even a small amount of separation on early planks will perpetuate through the whole installation. Check every row before proceeding, and correct any, even slight, gapping before moving to the next row.

The "Tools Needed" section of the instructions leave out the rubber mallet, but it is listed in step 5 for finishing the end joints.
