At least 2,376 people dead after 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar

Myanmar authorities reported that the death toll after the 7.7 magnitude earthquake exceeded 1,000 people. The earthquake was perceived around Southeast Asia, reaching Thailand were 100 workers were trapped after office building collapse.

Myanmar authorities reported that the death toll after the 7.7 magnitude

earthquake exceeded 1,000 people. Authorities confirmed that the number of

people injured is estimated to be at least 2,376 in the Mandalay region while

in the towns of Sagaing and Kaikus at least 300 people have been reported

missing under the rubble. The authorities also declared a state of emergency in

the regions of Sagaing, Magwe, Shan, among others for being the most affected by the

disaster. Meanwhile search and rescue efforts continue for those missing due

to the collapse of buildings and cracks in the ground.

The death toll will increase. In some places buildings collapsed and rescue

operations continue. I also went and checked. I would like to request our

people to support and help us as we need to provide rescue operations widely.

Meanwhile the earthquake also hit Thailand where residential buildings

and offices were evacuated. Public broadcaster Thai PBS reported the

collapse of a 30-story building under construction in the capital which

housed around 50 people, seven of whom managed to escape while the rest were

trapped. According to the latest information at least 10 persons have
