00:00As much as I could find out about who he was before,
00:04of all the stories before it became so popular
00:09to highlight the obvious things about his life,
00:13really wanted to just study whatever I could find on him,
00:18which wasn't much as far as actual footage,
00:21real interviews, real stories about him.
00:27He told a lot of his own stories,
00:30and so I tried to dig as deep as I could
00:33to figure out a version of him in my mind
00:36that would somehow become who we know him to be now.
00:41It was tedious work as well,
00:44but also very gratifying when you get it right.
00:50They're very meticulous about the details,
00:53and so I live in the world of detail.
00:57So I love that we paid attention to the styles back then,
01:01to how we wore our hair back then,
01:04how we talked back then.
01:05All those details for me helped shape the world
01:07for us to fully play in this very imaginary set.
01:12Early in my career, I've always approached the work
01:15with the same integrity,
01:16but the most challenging thing for me
01:18was having to approach this character
01:22and the scenes that come along playing him
01:26with that same integrity,
01:28because in the past, maybe the integrity I have to carry
01:32is what a relationship looks like,
01:34and maybe that's something that feels common to me,
01:37feels something that I can grasp.
01:39But in this world, in this universe,
01:41the integrity I have to bring to a character
01:43that is unpredictable and sometimes has to defend himself
01:50and maybe has to hurt someone else.
01:52So dealing with that impact of having to do that
01:58and still having to approach it with the same way,
02:00I think it just impacted me, not negatively,
02:04but just making sure that I appreciated
02:10what I was doing on screen
02:11and not letting it be so casual, you know?
02:15Which, you know, sometimes it was good days
02:17and some days weren't as great, you know?
02:20But that's the journey of it,
02:21and it's gratifying at the end when you can watch it
02:23and say, damn, I don't even remember doing that.
02:27And it makes sense.
