Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 12 runs at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on April 4. Batting first, Lucknow Super Giants scored 203/8 with Mitchell Marsh (60) and Aiden Markram (53) hitting solid half-centuries. Ayush Badoni (30) and David Miller (27) contributed with the bat as well. For Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya was the standout bowler as he clinched his first five-wicket haul of his IPL and T20 career. He bagged figures of 5/36 while Trent Boult (1/28), Ashwani Kumar (1/39) and Vignesh Puthur (1/31) got one wicket each. In response, Lucknow Super Giants restricted Mumbai Indians to 191/5 in 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav was Mumbai Indians' top-scorer with 67 runs off 43 balls while Naman Dhir also chipped in with 46 off 24 balls. Tilak Varma (25 off 23) was retired out and replaced with Mitchell Santner towards the end but Mumbai Indians eventually lost by 12 runs. For LSG, Digvesh Rathi (1/21) was the best bowler while Shardul Thakur (1/40), Avesh Khan (1/40) and Akash Deep (1/46) got one wicket each.
