00:00During the baseball season, most of our attention is on the players, but there's no game without
00:11the grounds crew.
00:12They keep the field ready to play, rain or shine.
00:16We are really responsible for everything that happens inside the fences, so getting the
00:20field ready for play each and every day.
00:23Matt Nary is the sports turf manager for Medlar Field, home of the State College Spikes and
00:28Penn State Baseball.
00:30When the final out is recorded, his team comes up to bat.
00:34The first thing we attack are the mound, the plate and the infield dirt.
00:39That's where most of the action happens in baseball.
00:41We're usually here about an hour after the game, and then we're back in here at 9 the
00:45next morning to do it again.
00:47And Matt's team has double the workload, covering not one, but two teams.
00:53The season can be long and grueling, but hey, you get to work outside and you get to be
00:57around the game that you love, and it makes it kind of nice.
01:01For AccuWeather, I'm Eric Austin.
