Fatal submarine accident in Egypt: what happened?

A tourist boat carrying 45 Russian tourists encountered a fatal incident near Hurghada, Egypt.   Six deaths have been confirmed, while 39 tourists were rescued.   CGTN’s Adel El Mahrouky has the latest.

00:00Well, this is part of a touristic event, or a touristic outing, where the crews would

00:08take tourists to see the underwater coral reefs of the famous Egyptian Red Sea.

00:15Beside the some 40 Russian citizens, there were at least 6 others, 3 Egyptian nationals

00:20and 3 Indians on board, as well as 5 crew members on the Sildabad craft.

00:28Basically, so far 6 have been confirmed dead, 5 of them are Russian, the identity of the 6

00:35has not been confirmed yet and therefore his nationality or her nationality has not been

00:39confirmed as well. Most of those rescued are in good health conditions, 9 have been injured in

00:45this process, 4 of them according to Egyptian health ministry report are in critical condition,

00:52they have been all relocated to the nearest hospital. Luckily, Hergada is one of Egypt's

00:59biggest resort cities, there are decent health care facilities there and therefore

01:04both the rescue speed and the medical intervention they're getting hopefully should be enough for

01:10the recovery. The incident happened about 1 kilometer away from the Hergada shore, so not

01:16far into the sea which has definitely contributed to limiting the number of death and casualties.
