00:00When we started, the students managed to put this together and Paul was the main driver

00:22organising it all and when it was built we had the first night, which I think there's

00:26a black and white photograph of, and we lined up all these beers at the front of the bar

00:31and unfortunately some of the students were rather overly enthusiastic so we actually

00:35had to pull down the grating to stop them from spawning with beers before we said okay

00:41go.

00:42So basically it was like a horse race, as soon as we said go we lifted the shutter and

00:45there were just hands flying through everywhere.

00:50The first night was a bit hectic but it was a lot of fun and then we, I mean in those

00:54days we actually had cigarette machines in here, you know we had jukeboxes and all that

00:59sort of stuff so things have changed for the better as well as here so yeah it's been a

01:04great pleasure to come and see it after 40 years, it's just gone from strength to strength

01:09and now the University is getting the bar back as the University Bar so it's been very

01:15pleasing to come and see the changes.
