Hundreds of peasant and indigenous families arrived in Asunción, Paraguay, to participate in Thursday's traditional peasant march, to demand an agrarian reform.

00:09The families accuse the Santiago Peña administration of implementing policies that undermine the

00:15people's quality of life and food production.

00:18They also demand respect for their ancestral territories and the state's support to the

00:23agricultural activity in their lands.

00:26At least 2.5% of the country's families hold 85% of the nation's arable lands, which are

00:33responsible for Paraguay's total food supply.

00:44The problems of the peasantry and the land are getting worse and worse.

00:48The government continues to pass laws to expel peasants and indigenous people from their

00:54lands.

00:56That is why we are mobilizing.

00:58On the other hand, if we look at the state of production today, that is even more worrying,

01:03because it is not only the peasantry that is affected, but society as a whole.

01:09And we also have to add the climate crisis and deforestation.
