00:00Every year, in the world, hundreds of thousands of tons of waste are produced because of shaving.
00:05And yet, for men as for women, there are zero-waste alternatives to shave.
00:19The disposable razors are made mainly of plastic, a plastic that is almost never recycled.
00:24We throw away huge quantities for a year and yet there is a fairly simple alternative,
00:28which is to go through a metal razor, which is called a safety razor, which is unbreakable and has an infinite lifespan.
00:34Unlike disposable razors, the metal razor is made of a single material,
00:38of which we can change a very small part, the blade, right here, in metal,
00:43and which is recyclable in metal bins, in waste disposal.
00:46I accumulate them and I will bring them another day.
00:50Disposable razors are very difficult to clean, while here all the parts are removable and therefore washable.
00:57This safety razor is more expensive to buy, but on the one hand we can find it on occasion,
01:01and on the other hand it is an investment that allows us to save money afterwards.
01:10With industrial shaving foam, we produce a new waste with the container,
01:15while we could very easily do without it.
01:17One of the first zero-waste solutions is to make your own shaving cream.
01:20For example, I made one with quality butter, olive oil and coconut oil.
01:25Another zero-waste solution that I prefer is to use soap.
01:28And here we have two options, the one to use classic soap,
01:31preferably cold saponified because it is better for the skin,
01:34or a shaving cream bought without packaging.
01:37We can make them foam by hand, but it is still more practical with a blender.
01:55The gesture is almost the same as with a disposable razor,
01:57you just have to make sure that the blade is really perpendicular to the skin.
02:01We will first go in the direction of the hair and then in the opposite direction.
02:18The advantage of using a shaving cream is that, for example,
02:21for a man who shaves every day, he will use it between 6 and 12 months,
02:26while with an industrial foam, he will use it between 1 and 2 months.
02:36If you use pre-shaving, you can very easily replace it with the vegetable oil of your choice,
02:41depending on your tastes, it will allow you to hydrate your skin.
02:44For example, I chose almond oil, bought in bulk.
02:51In the end, you get the hang of it quite quickly,
02:54and in addition, it avoids dozens of pollutants per year.
