00:31is a much more motivating factor for voters than gender is.

00:36And I write in the book about an incredible conversation I had with Sheryl Sandberg, who

00:41has done so much work to really untangle what it is, what's realistic in terms of what you

00:49have to do to be successful, and what is tinged, if not affected, by sexism.

00:55And she says, look, the research is absolutely clear.

00:59The more professionally successful a man becomes, the more likable he is.

01:04The more professionally successful a woman becomes, the less likable she is.

01:09And the more a woman is in service for someone else, you know, when I was Secretary of State,

01:13I came out of that job with, I think, a 69% approval rating.

01:17Because I was in service to my country, I was in service to our president, I was proud

01:21to do it.

01:22But when a woman walks into the arena and says, I'm going for this myself, it really

01:29does have a dramatic effect on how people perceive.
