"Wall of Moms": Portland mother on why she protests

These mothers have been standing between Black Lives Matter protesters and federal forces in Portland... here's why.

00:00Together, stay tight, we do this every night.

00:23I can't say that protesting is really my thing,

00:27but in this case, I just felt like I have to be there.

00:34I believe in the Black Lives Matter, and I think that it's very timely in our society

00:42that we're having this uprising, but I think they should be able to

00:47continue to protest without the federal officers.

00:56I'm really outraged that the federal agents are there and they're not invited and they've been

01:15asked to leave, and they're being used as a political pawn for the president. I'm convinced

01:25he's trying to make it look like all of the suburbs are under attack and they're coming to get

01:31the people in the suburbs, and that's just plain not true.

01:44That was probably about 11.30 or so, and all of a sudden, everybody was, run, run, run,

01:50and realized that a whole bunch of federal police came out of the building across the street,

01:57and they were pointing guns into the crowd, and I ran. I was holding my glasses in my hand

02:07because I had goggles on, and my hand got grazed by a rubber bullet, and we thought everything was

02:13over and it was peaceful, and we were so happy about it, and then in an instant, we were being

02:18attacked. I turned around, and there was a line of policemen about 20 feet away. I moved within

02:3810 feet away. I asked them if they were just going to shoot this old man for not doing anything,

02:43for just being there, or what are you going to do? When I went to look up,

02:47which I never should have done, is when they started spraying, and I just stayed there,

02:52covered my face, stayed there kneeling until I couldn't kneel anymore and fell to the ground.

03:16We're not Antifa. We're not the thugs that the president thinks are protesting. It's

03:40everyday Portlanders, professional people, and everyone is outraged.
