"Straight-up racist." These newly elected women of color are taking aim at the Democratic Party in Massachusetts.
Transcript
00:00What needs to be said in a very straightforward way is that the Democratic Party is straight-up racist.
00:05The structural racism that we're talking about dismantling is in the party.
00:31There was major support for my primary for the opponent.
00:34And so what I found is that you're going against, I'm a Democrat, I feel like I'm gung-ho for the party, and then you see yourself really fighting against the system that is meant to support you.
00:44And that is something that needs to be discussed and brought up.
01:00What I found was a little disappointing was I think that the Democratic Party of our commonwealth and across the country needs to take a look at themselves and really understand that if you're not going to, we all won without major support for our primaries.
01:14The structural racism that we're talking about dismantling is in the party.
01:18And this is one of the reasons why it's frustrating to be standing up on the stage of the Democratic Party behind speeches being made about Republicans dividing the country.
01:46It shouldn't take 2018 for four black women from Boston, four black women to emerge, for people to say, oh, what's the sauce?
01:54I got so tired of getting that question.
01:56The sauce is we busted our behinds.
01:58The sauce is we know our communities, like you said, Nika.
02:01And the other sauce is that we included people that you had ignored.
02:05What's so beautiful about this moment, nobody did anything to help at least me, you know, get here.
02:12We don't owe anyone anything.
02:14We report to the I report to the voters.
