Surf Schools Helping People With Disabilities

This quadriplegic woman is catching some waves. And with the help of these surf schools —anyone can.

00:00To be in the water and to feel the movement again, it's really special.

00:29We felt like we were flying, it was amazing.

00:31They showed us how to handle him in the water, how to actually hold the surfboard, and how

00:38to surf behind him, and it was an amazing experience.

00:50It doesn't matter whether you are an able-bodied surfer or somebody with a disability, I just

00:55love watching that wave after wave, the passion and the stoke, that joy and the stoke is the

01:00same, and it gives me the same goose bumps watching each wave at each session.

01:04Some surfers only use the paddle, others use the wave while lying down, others stand up,

01:08others use the paddle while kneeling.

01:09It's up to each one of us, but the most important thing is the contact with the beach and the

01:14sea.

01:15I had the courage to paddle and I was able to decide more quickly, to have that initiative.

01:22At first I said to myself, I'm a visually impaired person, it's not really possible, and he explained

01:34to me that it's possible, with surfing everything is possible, so I tried and now I'm in love

01:40with surfing.
