Extinction Rebellion Climate blocked London bridges

6,000 protesters, 500 ready to go to jail. All in the name of stopping climate extinction.

00:08The plan for today is essentially to take a series of bridges in London and have a peaceful

00:32sit-in protest to draw attention to the fact that we're on our way to extinction.

00:37It's about you, it's about me, it's about the world.

00:40We are going to die.

00:41Every day, 60 species are going extinct.

00:44You can Google that, it's a fact.

00:46We are on the way to our own extinction and if we don't do anything now, there will be

00:50no tomorrow for us, for our children and it's up to us to have some responsibility with

00:56our planet, with our people, with our brethren to make a difference now because now is the

01:01time.

01:02Tomorrow is too late.

01:03Woo!

01:04Let's go!

01:07For the first time, people are willing to go to jail and to actually sacrifice themselves

01:19for this cause, for our planet.

01:20We need to have drastic action, we need to take measures that people actually show real

01:25commitment to making real sacrifices to meet the needs of a planet that is fast going towards

01:33extinction.

01:37The Extinction Rebellion movement here in the UK has three basic demands.

01:51One is that the truth must be told because at the moment, people are not aware of what

01:55is really happening.

01:57We are not aware of how dangerous and how critical the situation is at the moment.

02:01Secondly, there is demand that all carbon emissions are cut by 2025, all carbon emissions

02:06in the UK.

02:07And thirdly, that to democratize the process, a council of citizens is set up to guide and

02:16to monitor the process of our efforts to stop climate change.

02:29This is not a UK movement, this is a global movement because it's not about French, it's

02:33not about the British, it's not about the Spanish, it's about humanity.

02:37It's about someone in Nairobi, it's about someone in Sydney, it's about someone in Bogota,

02:41Colombia.

02:42It's about all of us joining hands and making a difference because if not, there will be

02:46no tomorrow to speak of.
