00:17who won Oaklawn's Count Fleet Sprint Handicap with a buyer's speed figure of 105.
00:23In his stakes debut, Skelly defeated promising Godolphin sprinter Strobe and 9-5 favorite Tahano Twist.
00:31It was also the first graded stakes winner for owners Chris and Emily Hicks of tiny Mason, Texas.
00:38In fact, Skelly is their only currently active racehorse.
00:41Chris is in the oil and gas business in West Texas.
00:44They have been racing horses for less than a decade under the name Red Lane Thoroughbreds.
00:49Skelly is trained by Steve Asmussen, was ridden by Ricardo Santana, and is bred in Kentucky by Alan Poindexter.
00:56Meanwhile, Windstar is the home of the ultra-fast and versatile Life is Good, who dazzled us with his speed in 2022.
01:06He was never beaten to the early lead in his 12 lifetime starts, but more importantly, he carried that speed.
